1. Ett medialt museum : lärandets estetik i svensk television 1956-1969
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the aesthetic interpretation of learning processes in television produced and broadcast in Sweden between 1956 and 1969. The thesis explores how these programmes are linked to concepts of Bildung by their aesthetics, by which the intangible cultural heritage is entrusted in the form of oral and visual traditions, storytelling and games/play, where learning is the common denominator. 2. 'Dior without Dior' : Tradition and Succession in a Paris Couture House, 1957-2015
Sammanfattning : This study explores how the French luxury fashion house, Dior has mobilised its power over a 70 year period through the constructed persona of the designer, who functions as a figurehead, together with the brand’s heritage. It investigates how the house of Dior reinvented itself after the death of its founder in 1957 through the charismatic succession of a series of designers; Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, and finishes in 2015 with the departure of Raf Simons. 4. Bonadsmåleri under lupp: Spektroskopiska analyser av färg och teknik i sydsvenska bonadsmålningar 1700-1870
Sammanfattning : The objects of this PhD thesis are Southern Swedish painted wall-hangings: folk art paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries. The aim and objective of the study are: to investigate the construction and manufacturing processes of the painted wall-hangings; to identify both the painting materials and other substances employed; and, to document painting techniques used by different painters within this painted wall-hanging tradition. 5. In-Between: Contemporary Art in Australia. Cross-culture, Contemporaneity, Globalization
Sammanfattning : This study emerges from the question: what is contemporary art, and mainly what criteria constitute contemporary art in a globalized art world in general? Thus, the focus of this dissertation is on the postcolonial context of Australia and the fact that the contemporary art scene in Australia is divided into Australian and Aboriginal art respectively. This is a division originating from the colonization of Australia that began in the 1770’s, resulting in an Australian art descending from a Western art practice, where there is further focus on two categories within this art.
