  1. 1. Visualising the Effect of Geometrical Variation in Assembled Products. Predicting Visual Quality Appearance

    Författare :Casper Wickman; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :tolerancing; visual quality appearance; distance perception; empirical studies; method development; visual sensitivity; and geometric variation; virtual reality;

    Sammanfattning : Today, when an industrial design concept is evaluated in an aesthetic manner, little or no consideration is given to geometrical variation, i.e. the concept is evaluated with nominal geometry. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Accommodating differences : Power, belonging, and representation online

    Författare :Karin Hansson; Love Ekenberg; Ina Wagner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; e-participation; e-democracy; online identity; artistic research; visual method; participatory method; belonging; singularity; performative states; data- och systemvetenskap; Computer and Systems Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : How can political participatory processes online be understood in the dynamic, conflicted and highly mediated situations of contemporary society? What does democracy mean in a scenario where inequality and difference are the norms, and where people tend to abandon situations in which they and their interests are not recognized? How can we accommodate differences rather than consensus in a scenario where multiple networks of people are the starting point rather than a single community?In this thesis, these questions are explored through an iterative process in two studies that have used or resulted in three prototypes and one art exhibition. The first study is of communication practices in a global interest community, which resulted in two prototypes: Actory, a groupware that takes differences rather than equality as the starting point for a collaborative tool, and The Affect Machine, a social network where differences are used as a relational capital. 3. 3. Visual replenishment methods in manufacturing industry and suggestion for a decision tool

    Författare :Stefan Eriksson; Mauro Onori; Stig- Arne Mattsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; materials supply; replenishment methods; visual; selecting methods; decision tool;

    Sammanfattning : In almost all supply chains, materials need to be stored or buffered, implying that manufacturing companies need effective replenishment methods. However, this is challenging, since companies must balance inventory costs and customer service in complex and different situations. Therefore, it is important to choose replenishment methods carefully. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Visual replenishment methods in the manufacturing industry and suggestion for a decision tool

  5. 5. Visual Robustness: Effects of Variation on Product Appearance and Perceived Quality

    Författare :Karin Nordvall; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; craftsmanship; robust design; perceived quality; optical quality; visual quality appearance; visual robustness; geometrical variation and non-nominal visualization; industrial design;

    Sammanfattning : For consumer products where the product appearance plays an important role in meeting expectations, the visible effects of manufacturing variation can have a negative influence on the product experience. A prerequisite in mass production is that no manufactured units are exactly identical, as a result of variation. LÄS MER
