    Sammanfattning : Light is the primary source of energy on our planet and has been a significant driver in the evolution of human society and technology. Light finds applications in two-dimensional (2D) photolithography and three-dimensional (3D) printing, where a pattern is transferred to a material of interest by ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, and in laser scribing and cutting, where high power lasers are used to pattern the surface of objects or cut through the bulk of the material of interest. Sammanfattning : Pollution of water resources is a growing problem in the world and this has drawn the attention to photocatalysis, which is an emerging technology for water purification. In this thesis, low dimensional zinc oxide and copper oxides, which are promising photocatalytic materials, have been studied. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Advanced nano- and microdomain engineering of Rb-doped KTiOPO4 for nonlinear optical applications

    Författare :Charlotte Liljestrand; Carlota Canalias; Sunao Kurimura; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; KTiOPO4; nonlinear optics; MOPO; quasi-phase matching; SHG; ferroelectrics; domain structuring; periodic poling; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Fine-pitch ferroelectric domain gratings are extensively used for generation of light in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions through quasi-phase matched (QPM) frequency conversion. Sub-μm QPM devices enables demonstration of nonlinear optics with counterpropagating waves, a field of nonlinear optics which remains sparsely explored due to the difficulty of fabricatinghigh quality gratings. 5. 5. Multi-spectral analysis of fine scale aurora

    Författare :Hanna Dahlgren; Göran Marklund; Nickolay Ivchenko; Fred Sigernes; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma physics; Plasmafysik; Optics; Optik;

    Sammanfattning : The Aurora Borealis is the visible manifestation of the complex plasma interaction between the solar wind and the Earth's magnetosphere and ionosphere. Ground based and in situ measurements demonstrate a prevalence of dynamic fine structure within auroral displays, with spatial scales down to tens of metres and time variations occurring on a fraction of a second.
