    Författare :Maria Baudin; Magnus Evander; Clas Ahlm; Göran Bucht; Tomas Bergström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rift Valley fever; Rift Valley fever virus; viral haemorrhagic fever; miscarriage; entry; charge; carbohydrates; high-throughput screening; antiviral; cell-based assay; medicinsk virologi; Medical Virology;

    Sammanfattning : Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) is a mosquito-borne virus which has the ability to infect a large variety of animals including humans in Africa and Arabian Peninsula. The abortion rate among these animals are close to 100%, and young animals develop severe disease which often are lethal. LÄS MER

    Författare :Alma Forsman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epstein-Barr virus; EBNA1; EBNA5; EBNA-LP; cellular network; virus-host protein interactions;

    Sammanfattning : The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the causative agent or cofactor in the aetiology of several human malignancies such as Burkitt’s lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and lymphoproliferative disorder in immunocompromised patients. EBV is a lymphotropic γ-herpes virus infecting more than 90 percent of the population worldwide. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Virus Host Interactions in SARS Coronavirus Infection

    Författare :Vithiagaran Gunalan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The global outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome which began in 2002 and ended in 2003 resulted in over 8000 cases in 29 countries, causing an atypical pneumonia which resulted in a case fatality rate of ~10%. The etiological agent of this disease was found to be a novel coronavirus dubbed SARS Coronavirus (SARS-CoV). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Early host cell interactions and antivirals against ocular adenoviruses

    Författare :Rickard Storm; Niklas Arnberg; Saw See Hong; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adenovirus; Virus host interactions; Antivirals; Sialic acid; Integrins; Epidemic keratoconjuntivitis;

    Sammanfattning : Viruses are common causative agents of ocular infection among humans. Epidemic keratoconjuntivitis (EKC) is a severe and contagious ocular disease with reported outbreaks worldwide. It is estimated that this disease affects 20-40 million individuals every year, which leads to huge socioeconomic costs for the affected countries. LÄS MER

    Författare :Cecilia Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a severe acute human disease with potential lethal outcome caused by a virus, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV). Not much is known regarding how CCHFV infects cells, replicates and why it cause vascular dysfunction. LÄS MER
