6. Serology of human papillomavirus type 16
Sammanfattning : Human papillomavirus (HPV) type 16 is the major cause of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and anogenital cancers. The antibody response to papillomaviruses is a key determinant of protective immunity and forms the basis for prophylactic vaccine development as well as for seroepidemiology. LÄS MER
7. Adenovirus-mediated Gene Therapy of Prostate Cancer
Sammanfattning : Adenovirus-mediated gene therapy is a potential complement to standard cancer treatments. Advantages are that vectors can be used to target tumors and that replicating viruses lead to increased therapeutic dosage. LÄS MER
8. Tick-borne encephalitis : prognosis, immunization and virus strain characterization
Sammanfattning : The aims were to investigate the morbidity associated with tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) both in the acute phase and at long-term follow-up, to develop a rapid neutralization test for confirmation of TBEV-specific antibody response and to study the serological response after TBE-vaccination and, finally, to characterize Swedish human TBEV isolates. The morbidity was studied in one retrospective follow-up study of consecutive TBE-patients, treated during a 10-year period (Paper 1) and in one prospective study of TBE-patients with aseptic meningoencephalitis of non-TBE etiology as a reference group (Paper II). 9. Hepatitis C virus infection : molecular analysis of transmission and immunity
Sammanfattning : Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is an important cause for chronic liver disease worldwide. Infection by HCV may resolve spontaneously, but in the majority of cases a chronic infection is established, that may result in liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular cancer. LÄS MER
10. Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis Virus (IPNV) - Structural Studies and Methodology
Sammanfattning : Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) is a Birnavirus that infects salmonid fish. The infection is usually mortal for fish under six months of age, while older fish become carriers, usually without any signs of infection, and will spread the virus to other susceptible fish and to their offspring.
