  1. 21. A Seeing Place – Connecting Physical and Virtual Spaces

    Författare :Josef Wideström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stage; VR; theatre; Virtual Space; virtual reality; place; physical space;

    Sammanfattning : In the experience and design of spaces today, we meet both reality and virtuality. But how is the relation between real and virtual construed? How can we as researchers and designers contribute to resolving the physical-virtual divide regarding spaces? This thesis explores the relations between the physical and the virtual and investigates ways of connecting physical and virtual space, both in theory and practice. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Towards an integrated framework for modeling, control, and validation of production systems

    Författare :Martin Dahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; virtual commissioning; automation engineering; virtual reality; Virtual preparation;

    Sammanfattning : To prepare a production system before installation includes a multitude of computer assisted tasks. Virtual preparation, including many simulation supported activities, has made great strides during the last decade. Industrial robots are routinely programmed offline in simulation environments. Sammanfattning : How is virtuality represented in fiction, and what does that say about our anticipations and fears about what the virtual is and will be? This text, a poetics of virtuality, explores fictional representations of virtuality, primarily in movies and literature, but also in media productions done by the author. The aim is to study the dream of virtuality. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Using Virtual Reality for Participatory Design and Brain Injury Rehabilitation

    Författare :Roy Davies; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pollution control; Environmental technology; Data- och systemvetenskap; computer technology; Systems engineering; Case Studies; Brain Injury Rehabilitation; Participatory Design; Virtual Reality; Usability; Applications; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Physical medicine; kinesitherapy; revalidation; rehabilitation; Rehabilitering medicinsk och social ;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the usability of Virtual Reality (VR) has been investigated and developed within two applications: participatory design of workplaces and brain injury rehabilitation. In the first application, VR is used in combination with full scale modelling, drama and democratic meetings in an Envisionment Workshop. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Touching the Essence of Life : Haptic Virtual Proteins for Learning

    Författare :Petter Bivall; Anders Ynnerman; Lena A. E. Tibell; Matthew D. Cooper; Miriam Reiner; Linköpings universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents research in the development and use of a multi-modal visual and haptic virtual model in higher education. The model, named Chemical Force Feedback (CFF), represents molecular recognition through the example of protein-ligand docking, and enables students to simultaneously see and feel representations of the protein and ligand molecules and their force interactions.
