  1. 16. Genetic vaccination against acute viral disease

    Författare :Marina N Fleeton; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Semliki Forest virus; Alphavirus. Influenza A virus; DNA vaccines. Influenza vaccine. Respiratory Syncytial Viruses; Louping Ill. Flavivirus Infections;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of recombinant vaccines based on the Semliki Forest virus (SFV) expression system. Immunisation of mice with recombinant virus particles, a layered DNA/RNA plasmid vector, and recombinant self-replicating RNA were carried out and the protective effect of these recombinant vaccines against viral challenge were examined. 2. 17. Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus : interactions with host cell structures in viral replication

    Författare :Melinda Simon; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) is a human pathogen, and was first associated with its corresponding disease during an outbreak in the mid 1940s. At that time, outbreaks were mainly restricted to the former Soviet Union, Africa and Asia, but lately disease incidents have markedly risen and CCHFV is now also endemic in several countries in the Middle East and Europe. 3. 18. Viral and host determinants in hepatitis B

    Författare :Hossein Sendi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The outcome of hepatitis B infection is highly variable, ranging from acute disease resulting in the elimination of infection to persistent infection that can lead to cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma. The factors determining the outcome in an individual are not fully known but may be classified into viral and host factors. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Immunological consequences of Epstein-Barr virus replication

    Författare :Andre Ortlieb Guerreiro Cacais; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous human herpesvirus involved in the pathogenesis of a wide spectrum of malignant and non-malignant diseases. In healthy EBV carriers, the virus is believed to infect two major cellular targets - B lymphocytes and epithelial cells. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Characterizing important flavivirus-host interactions : Replication, assembly, restriction factors and vaccine development

    Författare :Pham Tue Hung Tran; Magnus Johansson; Wessam Melik; Naveed Asghar; Sören Andersson; Laurent Chatel-Chaix; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Flaviviruses; virus-host cell interaction; lunapark; ESCRT; ALIX; CHMP4A; ISG15; TRIMs; replicon virus-like particles; vaccine;

    Sammanfattning : The genus Flavivirus (family Flaviviridae) consists of important zoonotic viruses that cause morbidity and mortality worldwide. These viruses are enveloped and have a positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome encoding a polyprotein. LÄS MER
