  1. 1. Rift Valley fever : consequences of virus-host interactions

    Författare :Maria Baudin; Magnus Evander; Clas Ahlm; Göran Bucht; Tomas Bergström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rift Valley fever; Rift Valley fever virus; viral haemorrhagic fever; miscarriage; entry; charge; carbohydrates; high-throughput screening; antiviral; cell-based assay; medicinsk virologi; Medical Virology;

    Sammanfattning : Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) is a mosquito-borne virus which has the ability to infect a large variety of animals including humans in Africa and Arabian Peninsula. The abortion rate among these animals are close to 100%, and young animals develop severe disease which often are lethal. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Crimean-Congo hemorragic fever virus : studies on molecular pathogenesis and host-cell interactions

    Författare :Helen Karlberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) disease in humans shows a spectrum of severity, from mild to acute. The pathogenesis of this and other viral haemorrhagic fevers (VHF) is associated with alteration of vascular barrier function and haemorrhage, but the specific underlying mechanism is unknown. 3. 3. African swine fever in Uganda : epidemiology and socio-economic impact in the smallholder setting

    Författare :Erika Chenais; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : In the last decade millions of people have been able to leave poverty, increasing the regional demand for meat and livestock products. In combination with reforms in market and agricultural policy, this has led to an increase in pig production in sub-Saharan Africa, most notably in Uganda. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Implications of Local Puumala Hantavirus Genetics and Epidemiology for Diagnostics and Vaccine Development

    Författare :Patrik Johansson; Fredrik Elgh; Göran Bucht; Detlev Krüger; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Communicable diseases; hantavirus; Puumala virus; nephropathia epidemica; genome sequence; glycosylation; linear DNA vaccine; microarray; identification; genetic variability; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious diseases; Infektionssjukdomar; medicinsk virologi; Medical Virology;

    Sammanfattning : Puumala viruses, a member of the Hantavirus genus in the Bunyaviridae family, are enveloped by a lipid bilayer and possesses a tripartite single stranded RNA genome with negative polarity. The hantaviruses encode four proteins: a nucleocapsid protein (N), two membrane spanning glycoproteins (GN and GC) and a RNA dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). LÄS MER
