21. Nerve conduction and vibrotactile perception thresholds in female computer workers and hand-arm vibration-exposed male manual workers
Sammanfattning : Upper limb pain and disability are common problems, especially among working populations. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate peripheral nerve function in the upper limb by nerve conduction test and vibration threshold test in working populations including female computer users (n = 82), hand-arm vibration-exposed male manual workers (n = 116), and female workers with chronic diffuse upper limb pain (n = 35). 22. Absorption of vibration energy in the human hand and arm
Sammanfattning : The risk assessment of hand-arm transmitted vibration is today based on measurements of the magnitude, frequency spectra and duration of the vibration stimuli. It is, however, reasonable to assume that the detrimental effects might depend on the vibration energy absorbed by the hand and arm. LÄS MER
23. Vibrations from Railway Traffic : Computational Modeling and Analysis
Sammanfattning : The population is growing, and an increasing proportion of the population lives in urban areas. As a consequence, human exposure to noise and vibrations is increasing; two major sources being railway and road traffic. Larger and denser cities lead to a higher amount of traffic close to where people work and live. LÄS MER
24. Cold Sensitivity in injured and normal hands. Consequences for daily life
Sammanfattning : Cold sensitivity is a common and persistent complaint after various hand injuries and diseases. The general aim of the thesis was to investigate the consequences of cold sensitivity for daily life in patients with traumatic hand injuries and hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS). LÄS MER
25. Health and safety management of hand-arm vibration : preconditions and outcomes
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the research presented in this thesis was to gain increased knowledge and understanding of aspects and actors that contribute to the preconditions and outcomes for proactive health and safety managementregarding vibration exposure. The main objectives were: 1) to investigate carpenters´ perceptions of the proactive health and safety management at their work sites, and 2) to carry out an exploratory investigation of the aspectsand actors that can influence the implementation of planned change processes in four industries regarding lowvibration hand-held power tools.
