Sammanfattning : In this work, a comprehensive dynamic model has been developed for simulating a novel semiconductor laser type, referred to as the Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL). The high-speed behavior was simulated and compared to experiments, where excellent agreement was found. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : It is estimated that, between the year 2000 and 2003, thenumber of online Internet users will grow from 250 millions to500 millions. This growth results in rapidly increasing demandfor fibre-optic communication bandwidth, occurring at alllevels: from access and local area networks (LANs) tometro-area networks (MANs). LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : III-nitride materials are used for ultraviolet (UV) and visible light emitters. One such light source is the vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) that could find applications within areas ranging from sterilization and medical treatment to car headlights and augmented reality displays. Sammanfattning : The vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) is a low cost light source with attractive performance characteristics such as low power consumption, high speed capabilities at low currents, and a circular output beam. These features have made the VCSEL an established component in digital communication networks, particularly in short reach optical data transmission applications where links consisting of GaAs-based 850nm VCSELs and multimode fiber have become the standard solution. Sammanfattning : The gallium-nitride (GaN) semiconductor material has been the core of the revolutionary breakthroughs during the last two decades in the lighting industry, by enabling manufacturing of efficient blue light emitting diodes (LEDs), for which the 2014 Nobel prize in physics was awarded. The GaN technology has further led to violet edge-emitting lasers (EELs), enabling the Blu-ray disk technology, and also to the commercialization of directly green emitting EELs. LÄS MER
