11. Evaluation and prognostic significance of premature ventricular contractions in patients without structural heart disease
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are a common form of arrhythmia associated with poor prognosis in patients with structural heart disease. However, their prognostic impact on healthy individuals is unclear. LÄS MER
12. Role of the hERG-channel in arrhythmia and teratogenicity : studies in animal models and the human embryonic heart
Sammanfattning : Background: Drugs that inhibit cardiac repolarization are associated with potentially life threatening side effects in the form of ventricular arrhythmias in humans. Animal studies show that this mechanism also is relevant for the embryo, and that the circulatory depression results in hypoxia with embryotoxicity in the form of malformations and death as a consequence. 13. Applications of Vectorcardiography for Diagnosis and Risk Stratification in Subpopulations at Risk for Life-Threatening Arrhythmias
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Vectorcardiography, or 3-dimensional electrocardiography is a tool which can be used to identify subtle changes in the electrical forces of the heart, and which can be applied to atrial depolarization, ventricular depolarization and ventricular repolarization for prognostic and diagostic purposes. Methods: Kor’s regression-related and quasi orthogonal methods was used to derive vectorcardiographic parameters from the 12-lead electrocardiogram and applied to a cohort of cryptogenic stroke patients to assess atrial fibrillation, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients to assess for ventricular arrhythmias, applied with right-precordial directed quasi orthogonal method to arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy (ARVC/D) patients for diagnosis, and applied to ventricular repolarization only to patients with genotype-positive/phenotype-negative Long QT2 syndrome (KNCH2 mutation) to assess for cardiac events. 14. Arrhythmias in Older People: Focusing on Atrial Fibrillation. Epidemiology and impact on daily Life
Sammanfattning : Older people with arrhythmias comprise a large group requiring complex care, posing many healthcare challenges. Rapid growth of the older population demands a better understanding of the needs of this patient group. LÄS MER
15. Atrial fibrillation : clinical managements with special emphasis on cardioversion
Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia of clinical importance. It often decreases quality of life and is related to significant morbidity, as well as decreases longevity. LÄS MER
