21. Direct Thrombin Inhibitors in Treatment and Prevention of Venous Thromboembolism: Dose – Concentration – Response Relationships
Sammanfattning : For prevention and treatment of thrombotic diseases with an anticoagulant drug it is important that an adequate dose is given to avoid occurrence or recurrence of thrombosis, without increasing the risk of bleeding and other adverse events to unacceptable levels. The aim of this thesis was to develop mathematical models that describe the dose-concentration (pharmacokinetic) and concentration-response (pharmacodynamic) relationships of direct thrombin inhibitors, in order to estimate optimal dosages for treatment and long-term secondary prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE). 22. Venous thrombosis in children : the roles of vascular access and critical illness
Sammanfattning : Venous thromboembolism (VT) is a rare event in the general pediatric population. However, the incidence in hospitalized children is higher and has increased dramatically reaching 58 per 10 000 children. The single most important risk factor for pediatric VT is the presence of a central venous catheter. LÄS MER
23. Venous thromboembolism with special focus on genetic and potential acquired risk factors
Sammanfattning : Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a relatively common cause of morbidity and mortality. It has an annual incidence of around 0.1- 0.3%. LÄS MER
24. Clinical aspects on treatment of deep venous thrombosis with a low molecular weight heparin
Sammanfattning : Dalteparin is a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) with a mean mw of 4-6000 D. Compared to unfractionated heparin (UFH), a higher bioavailability, a longer half-life and a more predictable dose-response is achieved after subcutaneous injections. LÄS MER
