  1. 1. Regional oxygenation in cardiac surgery. Influence of temperature, pump flow and insulin

    Författare :Lena Lindholm; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiopulmonary bypass; cardiac surgery; regional oxygenation; venous oxygenation; splanchnic oxygenation; insulin; vasodilation; temperature; pump flow;

    Sammanfattning : Surgical trauma triggers neural, endocrine and inflammatory reactions with subsequent alterations in systemic and regional blood flow, blood pressure and metabolism. These changes are detectable after all major surgical procedures but are often more pronounced after cardiac surgery, probably because of blood exposure to artificial surfaces of the heart lung machine, temperature modulation (e. 2. 2. Benefits of Spontaneous Breathing : Compared with Mechanical Ventilation

    Författare :László Vimláti; Michael Lichtwarck-Aschoff; Anders Larsson; Lars Wiklund; Carl-Johan Wickerts; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; spontaneous breathing; mechanical ventilation; pulmonary shunt; oxygenation; hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : When spontaneous breathing (SB) is allowed during mechanical ventilation (MV), atelectatic lung areas are recruited and oxygenation improves thereby. Whether unsupported SB at its natural pattern (without PEEP and at low pressure/small tidal volume) equally recruits and improves oxygenation, and if so by which mechanism, has not been studied. 3. 3. The Neurological Wake-up Test in Neurocritical Care

    Författare :Karin Skoglund; Niklas Marklund; Per Enblad; Tiit Mathiesen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Intracranial pressure; Cerebral perfusion pressure; Propofol sedation; Wake-up test; stress hormones; intracerebral microdialysis; brain tissue oxygenation; jugular venous oxygenation; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : The neurological wake-up test, NWT, is a clinical monitoring tool that can be used to evaluate the level of consciousness in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) during neurocritical care (NCC). Since patients with severe TBI or SAH are often treated with mechanical ventilation and sedation, the NWT requires that the continuous sedation is interrupted. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mean systemic filling pressure - from Guyton to the ICU, and back again

    Författare :Per Werner Möller; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mean systemic filling pressure; venous return; right atrial pressure; positive pressure ventilation; extracorporeal membrane oxygenation;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Mean systemic filling pressure (MSFP) is the equilibrated vascular pressure at zero flow. Venous return (VR) driving pressure (VRdP) is the difference between MSFP and right atrial pressure (RAP). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Near infrared spectroscopy for assessing oxygenation and hemodynamics in the upper extremities of healthy subjects and patients with work-related muscle pain

    Författare :Guilherme H. Elcadi; Albert G. Crenshaw; Mikael Forsman; Martin Fahlström; Svend Erik Mathiassen; Karen Sogaard; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Near infrared spectroscopy; muscle oxygenation; hemodynamics; electromyography; extensor carpi radialis; trapezius; fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of work-related muscle pain (WRMP) is large in the general population in the industrialized world. Despite significant advances over recent years in some research areas, the mechanisms of why WRMP occurs and the pathophysiological mechanisms behind the disorders are still unclear. LÄS MER
