1. Longitudinal Force Distribution and Road Vehicle Handling
Sammanfattning : The distribution of longitudinal forces has a large influence on vehicle handling characteristics such as the driver/vehicle interaction, road holding and yaw stability, in particular during combined traction/braking and cornering near the grip limit of the tires. In order to select and develop suitable driveline systems and associated active control that provide consistent driver/vehicle handling, maximum road holding and sufficient yaw stability margins, it is essential to understand the influence of a particular drive force distribution on these handling characteristics. 2. Suspension design for off-road construction machines
Sammanfattning : Construction machines, also referred to as engineering vehicles or earth movers, are used in a variety of tasks related to infrastructure development and material handling. While modern construction machines represent a high level of sophistication in several areas, their suspension systems are generally rudimentary or even nonexistent. LÄS MER
3. Towards efficient vehicle dynamics development : From subjective assessments to objective metrics, from physical to virtual testing
Sammanfattning : Vehicle dynamics development is strongly based on subjective assessments (SA) of vehicle prototypes, which is expensive and time consuming. Consequently, in the age of computer- aided engineering (CAE), there is a drive towards reducing this dependency on physical test- ing. LÄS MER
4. Advances In Heavy Vehicle Dynamics with Focus on Engine Mounts and Individual Front Suspension
Sammanfattning : The main objective of the research presented in this thesis is to enhance driver comfort and handling of a heavy truck that in turn leads to better vehicle safety and stability. The focus has been put on studying two suspension systems of the truck, engine and front axle suspensions, due to their significant impact on the dynamic performance of the vehicle. LÄS MER
5. Controlling over-actuated road vehicles during failure conditions
Sammanfattning : The aim of electrification of chassis and driveline systems in road vehicles is to reduce the global emissions and their impact on the environment. The electrification of such systems in vehicles is enabling a whole new set of functionalities improving safety, handling and comfort for the user. LÄS MER
