  1. 11. Changes in plant community diversity and management effects in semi-natural meadows in southern Sweden

    Författare :Anna-Carin Linusson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant ecology; Vegetation; Species diversity; Management intensity; Community diversity; Ordination; Växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The objectives of this thesis were to: 1) survey the vegetation in semi-natural meadows in south-central Sweden, 2) discern meadow vegetation changes in eight semi-permanent plots between studies performed in the 1960s and in 1990, 3) experimentally investigate the effects of variations in management intensity in one dry and one mesic meadow, 4) experimentally investigate the effects of different management practices or absence of management on species dynamics in meadow vegetation. 1. 2. 12. Towards an integrated ecology through mechanistic modelling of ecosystem structure and functioning

    Författare :Thomas Hickler; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; geomorphology; Physical geography; integrated ecology; plant hydraulic architecture; climate change; CO2 fertilisation effect; biogeography; biogeochemistry; vegetation dynamics; ecosystem modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Plant physiology, population dynamics and the structure and functioning of ecosystems are closely interrelated. However, these processes are often investigated independently within different subdisciplines of ecology. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Modeling Carbon and Water Fluxes in European Terrestrial Ecosystems

    Författare :Pablo Morales; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorphology; pedology; cartography; Physical geography; water fluxes; climate change; kartografi; geomorfologi; klimatologi; marklära; carbon fluxes; regional climate models; vegetation dynamics; ecosystem modeling;

    Sammanfattning : The controlling mechanisms and feedbacks between climate, the carbon and water cycling and vegetation in European ecosystems have attracted much attention in recent years but they are still not sufficiently understood. A better understanding of them is necessary to predict how they will be affected by climate change. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Holocene Climate in Central and Southern Sweden : Quantitative Reconstructions from Fossil Data

    Författare :Karin Antonsson; Keith Bennett; Heikki Seppä; Andy Lotter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Quaternary geology; pollen analysis; climate reconstructions; transfer functions; vegetation dynamics; Sweden; Kvartärgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : In quantitative palaeoecology modern species-environmental relationships can be statistically modelled, and recent development has made the calibration models more statistically robust. These models are used to transform fossil assemblages to quantitative estimates of past environmental conditions. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Ticks and Tick-borne Encephalitis Virus : From Nature to Infection

    Författare :Naveed Asghar; Magnus Johansson; Patrik Dinnétz; Travis Taylor; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Co-occurrence; Environmental factors; Flavivirus; Ixodes ricinus; Natural foci; Non-coding region; Poly A tract; Quasispecies; Questing ticks; Scandinavia; Tick-borne encephalitis virus; Vegetation.; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier;

    Sammanfattning : Vector-borne diseases are an increasing global threat to humans due to climate changes, elevating the risk of infections transmitted by mosquitos, ticks, and other arthropod vectors. Ixodes ricinus, a common tick in Europe, transmits dangerous tick-borne pathogens to humans. LÄS MER
