1. Uncharted Waters : Non-target analysis of disinfection by-products in drinking water
Sammanfattning : Disinfection by-products (DBPs) are potentially toxic compounds formed when drinking water is treated with disinfectants, such as chlorine or chloramine. A large proportion of the exposure to DBPs is still unknown and the health risks observed through epidemiological studies cannot be explained by DBPs known today. LÄS MER
2. When water becomes a threat : Risk assessment and risk management plans for floods and drinking water in Swedish practice
Sammanfattning : Water is an essential but vulnerable resource. A shortage of good quality drinking water is a threat to human health and society as a whole. Abundance of water in the form of floods can also be a serious threat which can have consequences for the drinking water supply. To reduce these risks there is a need for systematic risk reduction. 3. Ghostpeakons
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we study peakons (peaked solitons), a class of solutions which occur in certain wave equations, such as the Camassa–Holm shallow water equation and its mathematical relatives, the Degasperis–Procesi, Novikov and Geng– Xue equations. These four non-linear partial differential equations are all integrable systems in the sense of having Lax pairs, infinitely many conservation laws, and multipeakon solutions given by explicitly known formulas. 4. Making Sense of Environmental Values : Wetlands in Kenya
5. Hydrogeochemistry and spatial variability of arsenic and other trace elements in the Lower Katari Basin around Lake Titicaca, Bolivian Altiplano. : Impact on drinking water quality and groundwater management
Sammanfattning : Arsenic (As) contamination in drinking water is a world-wide problem. Thenatural origin of As, its mobility and transport are of great interest in BolivianAltiplano (Lower Katari Basin: LKB and Sothern Poopó Basin: SPB) due topresence of mineral ore deposits, brines, hot springs and volcanic rocks.
