  1. 1. Lipids and Endothelium-Dependent Vasodilation

    Författare :Peter Steer; Lars Lind; Per Tornvall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Atherosclerosis; endothelium; vasodilation; nitric oxide; fatty acid; meal; diet; lipoprotein; cyclooxygenase; diclophenac; L-arginine; LDL; human; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; Internal Medicine; Internmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation (EDV) is associated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease as well as several of its risk factors. The aim of the present thesis was to investigate how lipids influence EDV in the vascular bed of the human forearm. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Endothelium-dependent vasodilation in essential hypertension

    Författare :Jonas Millgård; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; endothelium; hypertension; human; blood pressure; vasodilation; ACE-inhibition; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Internal Medicine; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The vascular endothelium plays a crucial role in the regulation of several homeostatic parameters in the circulation. In this thesis, the influences of essential hypertension and antihypertensive agents on endothelium-dependent vasodilation (EDV) were evaluated in the human forearm circulation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Vascular Dysfunction in Stroke and CADASIL

    Författare :Anna Stenborg; Lars Lind; Andreas Terent; Toste Länne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Internal medicine; stroke; CADASIL; endothelium; vasodilation; Invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Cerebrovascular disease (CVD) is strongly linked to hypertension and generally occurs later in life than coronary artery disease (CAD). Three quarters of the patients with symptomatic CVD are above 65 years of age. The risk factors are the same for CVD and CAD, but the relative importance of the vascular risk factors differs greatly. 4. 4. Endogenous tissue-type plasminogen activator andendothelial function in vivo. A clinical perspective

    Författare :Thorarinn Gudnason; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :tissue-type plasminogen activator; endothelial function; age; vasodilation; chronic heart failure; coronary artery disease; local regulation; perfused-forearm model;

    Sammanfattning : Endogenous fibrinolysis is initiated by the glycoprotein tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA), which is released from the vascular endothelium. Plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1) is the main inhibitor of tPA. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Impact of Interleukin-6 family cytokine signalling on human endothelial cells and platelets

    Författare :Madelene Lindkvist; Magnus Grenegård; Liza Ljungberg; Alistair W. Poole; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gp130 signalling cytokines; inflammation; transsignalling; JAK STAT; MEK ERK; PI3K AKT; platelet aggregation; vasodilation;

    Sammanfattning : Endothelial cells lining the luminal side of blood vessels creates a barrier between the circulating blood and the extracellular matrix. Endothelial cells have important functions in regulation of vessel tension and inflammation. LÄS MER
