  1. 1. Barrier function of the Follicle-Associated Epithelium in Stress and Crohn's disease

    Författare :Åsa Keita; Johan D. Söderholm; Ann-Charlott Ericson; Björn Weström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Corticotropin-releasing hormone; Crohn’s disease; 51Cr- EDTA; Escherichia coli; follicle-associated epithelium; horseradish peroxidase; human; ileum; inflammatory bowel disease; intestinal mucosa; mast cell; M cell; permeability; Peyer’s patches; rat; Ussing chamber; vasoactive intestinal peptide; villus epithelium; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Crohns sjukdom är en kronisk inflammatorisk tarmsjukdom av okänd orsak. Det tidigaste tecknet på Crohns sjukdom är mikroskopiska sår i det s.k. follikelassocierade epitelet (FAE) som täcker ansamlingar av immunceller i tarmen. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Human Endometrium : Studies on Angiogenesis and Endometriosis

    Författare :Christian Moberg; Matts Olovsson; Anneli Stavreus-Evers; Lalit Kumar Parameswaran Grace; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endometrium; angiogenesis; endothelial cell; endometriosis; receptivity; implantation; oestrogen receptor; progesterone receptor; crystallin; interleukin; vasoactive intestinal peptide; peritoneal fluid; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is thought to play a pivotal role in the cycling endometrium. Coordinated by oestrogen and progesterone, endometrial blood vessel development is primarily mediated by vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), which promotes endothelial cell (EC) proliferation and protects ECs from induced apoptosis. 3. 3. The laryngeal mucosa and the superior laryngeal nerve of the rat : an immunohistochemical and electron microscopic study

    Författare :Siw Domeij; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superior laryngeal nerve; paraganglia; substance P; calcitonin gene-related peptide; neuropeptide Y; vasoactive intestinal polypeptide; enkephalin; mast cells; electron microscopy; immunohistochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Neuropeptides are present in nerve fibers of the upper and lower airways. Local release of these substances may be of importance for the pathophysiology of airway disorders and may play a role in responses to different stimuli. However, little is known about the distribution of neuropeptides in the larynx. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Aspects of aqueous humor dynamics : Studies in vivo and in vitro

    Författare :Maria Samuelsson-Almén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology and anatomy; Aqneous humor flow; intraocular pressure; adenylate cyclase; nonpigmented ciliary epithelium; pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide; vasoactive intestinal polypeptide; dopamine; prostaglandin; Fysiologi och anatomi; Physiology and pharmacology; Fysiologi och farmakologi; Physiology; fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present investigation was to study the effects of PGF2α-l-isopropylester, some neuropeptides, and pharmacological agents on aqueous humor dynamics and intraocular pressure (IOP) in vivo and on adenylate cyclase activity in the nonpigmented ciliary epithelium (NPE) in vitro.Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) caused a dose-dependent increase in cAMP formation, indicating that the NPE contains receptors for PACAP and VIP coupled to adenylate cyclase activation. 5. 5. The effect of galanin message-associated peptide in spinal sensory processing

    Författare :Siv Andell-Jonsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :galanin; galanin message-associated peptide; spinal cord; flexor reflex; nociception;

    Sammanfattning : Galanin message associated peptide (GMAP), the C-terminal flanking peptide in the precursor protein of galanin, has been studied to established whether this peptide has its own biological action. With some exceptions, GMAP is generally co-localized with galanin in the central nervous system as well as the peripheral nervous system. LÄS MER
