  1. 11. Lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic metastasis

    Författare :Meit A Björndahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Angiogenesis; lymphangiogenesis; lymphatic metastasis; PDGF; IGF; VEGF-A;

    Sammanfattning : The major cause of cancer mortality is metastasis, which relies on the growth of blood vessels (haemangiogenesis) and lymphatic vessels (lymphangiogenesis). Whereas the field of haemangiogenesis has been relatively thoroughly studied, little is known about the mechanisms regulating lymphangiogenesis. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Inhibitors of corneal inflammation and angiogenesis : Prospectives and challenges

    Författare :Pierfrancesco Mirabelli; Neil S Lagali; Beatrice Bourghardt Peebo; Francisco C Figueiredo; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Pathologic angiogenesis is involved in cancer and several blinding conditions such as wet age-related macular degeneration, proliferative retinopathies and corneal neovascularization.In these dieseases, the angiogenic triggers are hypoxia and inflammation, and both involve the main angiogenic mediator, which is Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). 3. 13. Investigating mechanisms of angiogenesis in health and disease using zebrafish models

    Författare :Zaheer Ali; Lasse D. Jensen; Neil Lagali; Massimo Santoro; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis, the growth of blood vessels from an existing vasculature, can occur by sprouting from preexisting vessels or by vessel splitting (intussusception). Pathological angiogenesis drives choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in age related macular degeneration (AMD) which is commonly restricted under the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), called occult CNV, but may also involve vessels penetrating through the RPE into the sub-retinal space. 4. 14. Estrogen regulation of non-Hodgkin lymphomas and its underlying mechanisms

    Författare :Dan Huang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Most non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), show a higher male to female incidence ratio. The reason for this is not clear, but epidemiological and experimental studies have suggested a role for estrogens in NHL acting via estrogen receptor β (ERβ). LÄS MER
