  1. 1. Myofibroblasts and the Vascular Endothelium : Impact of Fibrin Degradation Products and miRNA on Vascular Motility and Function

    Författare :Peder Fredlund Fuchs; Pär Gerwins; Johan Kreuger; Arne Östman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; Vascular biology; Chemotaxis; Endothelial cell; Myofibroblast; Wound healing; miRNA; Heparan sulfate; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature and is important during development as well as wound healing and tissue remodeling. Angiogenesis also occurs during pathological conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and cancer. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Vascular Effects of P2 Receptors. Changes in Congestive Heart Failure

    Författare :Malin Malmsjö; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; congestive heart failure; pyrimidine; purine; P2 receptor; vasodilatation; vasoconstriction; hyperpolarisation; EDHF; NO; Vascular; endothelium; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Sammanfattning : Extracellular nucleotides induce dilatation and constriction of blood vessels by activation of P2 receptors. In this thesis the vasomotor effects of P2 receptor activation were studied in the rat mesenteric artery, and their changes in congestive heart failure (CHF) were evaluated using in vitro pharmacology, electrophysiology and competitive RT-PCR. 3. 3. Vacuum-assisted closure in cardiac surgery - clinical outcome and vascular effects

    Författare :Johan Sjögren; Thoraxkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; Surgery; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Infektioner; Infections; endothelium; vascular; central hemodynamics; risk factors; long-term survival; mortality; wound closure; cardiac surgery; vacuum-assisted closure; poststernotomy mediastinitis; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this research was to clinically and experimentally evaluate the use of vacuum-assisted closure in poststernotomy mediastinitis after cardiac surgery. Vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) is a new wound-healing therapy based on the application of a local negative pressure to the wound. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Direct and endothelium-linked serotonergic control of vascular tone in human uterine and umbilical arteries

    Författare :Caroline Karlsson; gynekologisk och prenatal ultraljudsdiagnostik Obstetrisk; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; vascular smooth muscle; uterine artery human ; umbilical artery human ; serotonergic receptor; 5-HT; noradrenaline; endothelium; NPY; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Sammanfattning : The serotonergic vascular control was investigated by in vitro pharmacology in the human uterine and umbilical arteries. The localisation of immunoreactive (IR) neuropeptide Y (NPY) and the influence of NPY on the adrenergic vascular effects in the human uterine artery were also studied. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Lipids and Endothelium-Dependent Vasodilation

    Författare :Peter Steer; Lars Lind; Per Tornvall; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation (EDV) is associated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease as well as several of its risk factors. The aim of the present thesis was to investigate how lipids influence EDV in the vascular bed of the human forearm. LÄS MER
