  1. 6. On the analytical engagement of social semiotics and variation theory in physics education research

    Författare :Moa Eriksson; Nationellt Resurscentrum för Fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Social semiotics; Variation theory; Relevance structure; Dimensions of variation; Semiotic resources; Fysicumarkivet A:2020:Eriksson;

    Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, I explore how two theoretical frameworks—social semiotics and the variation theory of learning—used in physics education research, can be fruitfully combined to obtain additional analytical tools for analysing student learning in introductory level university physics. Each theoretical framework has on their own, or together with other frameworks, been successfully applied for analysing both individual and collective learning, but the combination of the two has yet not been fully explored. 3. 8. Variation Control in Virtual Product Realization - A Statistical Approach

    Författare :Kristina Wärmefjord; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quality control; contact modeling; Variation simulation; welding simulation; spot welding sequence; inspection point reduction; fixture repeatability;

    Sammanfattning : All manufacturing processes are afflicted by variation, which leads to products that may not fulfill assembly, functional or esthetical requirements. The variation in the final product originates from variation in individual parts and assembly processes. LÄS MER

    Författare :Elias Euler; Bor Gregorcic; Cedric Linder; Michael C. Wittmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Controllable Worlds; digital learning environments; modeling; semi-formalisms; microworlds; social semiotics; conversation analysis; embodied cognition; disciplinary-relevant aspects; responsive teaching; variation theory; contrast; dimensions of variation; relevance structure; creativity; grounded theory; activity types; exploration; testing; engineering; Physics with specialization in Physics Education; Fysik med inriktning mot fysikens didaktik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I present a collection of case studies involving small groups of participants using ‘Controllable Worlds’—i.e., a particular class of physics digital learning environment (DLE) including simulations, ‘microworlds,’ and educational games that provides users with control over manipulable virtual environments. 5. 10. Unwarping and Analysing Electrophoresis Gels

    Författare :John Gustafsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Classification; Curved field lines; Gel matching; Image alignment; Image warping; Proteomics; Pulse-field gel electrophoresis; Two-dimensional electrophoresis; Variation; Yeast; Gel matching;

    Sammanfattning : Gel electrophoresis is a technology in molecular biology that is used to separate and quantify biomolecules, for example DNA and proteins. Ideally the position in a gel image corresponds to one or several properties of the molecules, such as size and net charge, but in practise the separation pattern is often warped, that is, geometrically distorted.
