  1. 6. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour

    Författare :Sara Florisson; Sigurdur Ormarsson; Johan Vessby; Kent Persson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; analytical method; calibration; controlled climate; creep; distortion; experimental methodology; FEM; fibre orientation; mechano-sorption; moisture transport; natural climate; Norway spruce; numerical model; three-dimensional; timber beam; validation; wood; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate. 2. 7. Validation and Application of CFD to Safety-Related Phenomena in Lead-Cooled Fast Reactors

    Författare :Marti Jeltsov; Pavel Kudinov; Walter Villanueva; Dmitry Grishchenko; Afaque Shams; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Verification; Validation; Calibration; Sensitivity Analysis; Uncertainty Analysis; CFD; STH; Code Coupling; Liquid Lead Coolant; LFR; SGTL R; Bubble transport; Core voiding; Seismic Sloshing; Melting Solidification; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon-free nuclear power production can help to relieve the increasing energy demand in the world. New generation reactors with improved safety, sustainability, reliability, economy and security are being developed. Lead-cooled fast reactor (LFR) is one of them. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Validation of antibodies for tissue based immunoassays

    Författare :Sandra Andersson; Anna Asplund; Fredrik Pontén; Kenneth Wester; Mike Taussig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antibody validation; Conjugation; Estrogen receptor-beta; IHC; ISH; Lymphohematopoietic tissues; Proteomic; RNAseq; TMA; Transcriptomic; Patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : In situ protein detection in human tissues using antibodies reveals the cellular protein localization, and affinity-based proteomic studies can help to discover proteins involved in the development of diseases. However, antibodies often suffer from cross-reactivity, and the lack of positive and negative tissue controls for uncharacterized proteins complicates the mapping of the proteome. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Methods for Early Model Validation : Applied on Simulation Models of Aircraft Vehicle Systems

    Författare :Magnus Carlsson; Johan Ölvander; Hampus Gavel; Lars Eriksson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Simulation  models of physical systems, with or without control software, are widely used in the aeronautic industry in applications ranging from system development to verification and end-user training. With the main drivers of reducing the cost of physical testing and in general enhancing the ability to take early model-based design decisions, there is an ongoing trend of further increasing the portion of modeling and simulation. 5. 10. Maintenance management of complex industrial systems : a methodology for renewal strategies

    Författare :Mathias Wärja; Torsten Cegrell; Per Lamell; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; residual lifetime estimation; maintennance management; technical systems in power and pulp- and paper industries; long terms maintenance strategies; Industrial engineering and economy; Industriell teknik och ekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : For complex technical systems in the electricity and pulp and paper industries, maintenance management addresses how to exploit physical assets in the most profitably way. This is a difficult task that requires taking into consideration parameters of totally different natures – e.g. LÄS MER
