    Författare :Linnea Gustafsson; Wouter van der Wijngaart; David Kaplan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; recombinant spider silk; nanostructures; microstrucutres; nanowires; nanochains; nanodisks; nanomembranes; tissue engineering; in-vitro models; medical technology; health technology; nanomedicine; rekombinant spindelsilke; nanostrukturer; mikrostrukturer; nanotrådar; nanokedjor; nanodiskar; nanomembran; vävnadsteknik; in vitro-modeller; medicinsk teknik; hälsoteknik; nanomedicin; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis introduces new ways to produce micro-and nanostructures of recombinant spider silk and explores ways to characterize their topography, mechanical properties, cell compatibility, and permeability. The suitability of the formed structures for applications within tissue engineering, primarily in vitro tissue modeling, is also investigated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Recombinant spider silk for biomedical applications - from functionalizing surfaces of synthetic materials to in vitro modelling of tissues

    Författare :Christos Panagiotis Tasiopoulos; My Hedhammar; Antonella Motta; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; recombinant spider silk; surface functionalization; in vitro tissue models; membrane-based models; barrier tissues; cell co-culture; tissue engineering; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Spider silk is a natural protein-based material known for its medicinal use and remarkable mechanical properties. Structures made thereof are both strong and elastic and have been shown to be favorable matrices for tissue engineering. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Advances in Bone Tissue Engineering

    Författare :Björn Schönmeyr; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Bone deficiencies, caused by malformations, trauma or adverse effects from medical treatments, are a clinical challenge and often associated with reduced physical function and quality of life. Autologeous bone grafts can be used to reconstruct skeletal defects, but the right size and quality of bone might not always be available and even so, donor-site morbidity might follow. LÄS MER
