  1. 1. Novel immunotherapies for metastatic melanoma - from mouse models towards clinical trials

    Författare :Elin Forsberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Metastatic melanoma; uveal melanoma; patient-derived xenograft; immune-humanized mouse model; immunotherapy; adoptive T cell therapy; tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes; chimeric antigen receptor T CAR-T cells;

    Sammanfattning : Immunotherapies including checkpoint blockade and adoptive T cell transfer (ACT) show great promise for the treatment of melanoma, with long-term effects in some patients. However, around half of the patients with metastatic malignant melanoma will not be cured with available therapies today, and these patients require other treatment strategies. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Isolated regional perfusion for metastases of malignant melanoma - Clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Roger Olofsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Malignant melanoma; Uveal melanoma; Isolated limb perfusion; Isolated hepatic perfusion; Immunology; Exosomes;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Isolated regional perfusion is a treatment option mainly for localized metastatic disease. The principle idea is to surgically isolate a region of the body and connect the circulation to a heart-lung machine. A high concentration of a chemotherapeutic agent is then delivered to the tumour, while systemic toxicity is avoided. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Uveal melanoma : epidemiological and clinical aspects

    Författare :Louise Bergman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Melanoma; uveal; choroidal; epidemiology; population-based registry; incidence; survival; familial; ruthenium brachytherapy;

    Sammanfattning : A major purpose with this thesis was to assess the incidence and mortality rates of uveal melanoma in Sweden during the period 1960 to 1998, using population-based registry data. In total, 2,995 patients (1,541 males and 1,454 females) were diagnosed with uveal melanoma. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Translational studies of metastatic melanoma in the era of immunotherapy - from humanized mouse models to clinical trials

    Författare :Henrik Jespersen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Metastatic melanoma; Uveal melanoma; Humanized mouse models; Immunotherapy; Chimeric antigen receptor T cells; PD-1 inhibition; Epigenetics; Histone deacetylase inhibition;

    Sammanfattning : Immunotherapy with PD-1 inhibitors has transformed the treatment of met-astatic cutaneous mela- noma, and can lead to complete and durable responses in a proportion of patients. However, in around half of the patients, the treatment has little or no effect. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Immunological effects of isolated regional perfusion in malignant melanoma

    Författare :Junko Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Melanoma; Isolated regional perfusion; ILP; IHP; Melphalan; Immunogenic cell death; T cells; Monocytes; ISG;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant melanoma patients with metastatic disease confined to the limbs or liver may be treated with hyperthermic isolated regional perfusion with a chemotherapeutic agent, most commonly melphalan. This procedure enables much higher tissue concentrations of the chemotherapeutic agent compared with systemic administration. LÄS MER
