  1. 1. Polycystic ovary syndrome - morphologic and dynamic evaluation by magnetic resonance imaging

    Författare :Henrik Leonhardt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; polycystic ovary syndrome; PCOS; magnetic resonance imaging; MRI; ultrasonography; three-dimensional imaging; adrenal hyperplasia; body composition; uterine morphology; uterine peristalsis; ovarian morphology; ovarian perfusion; antral follicle count; AMH; diagnostic accuracy;

    Sammanfattning : Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder, affecting up to 15% of women of reproductive age. The syndrome is characterized by oligo-anovulation, hyperandrogenism and polycystic ovaries. What constitutes the best definition of PCOS is still a matter of debate. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mifepristone for preoperative treatment of uterine leiomyoma

    Författare :Mikael Engman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : AIM: To explore the clinical impact and its molecular regulation on uterine leiomyomas in preoperative treatment with mifepristone, a progesterone receptor modulator (PRM). BACKGROUND: Uterine leiomyomas are highly prevalent in fertile women, increasing with age up to 35-50 % in a population approaching the age of 50. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Yolk sac morphology and uterine blood flow are associated with fetal outcome in diabetes pregnancy

    Författare :Sheller Zabihi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Diabetes; yolk sac; embryo; gene expression; blood flow; folic acid; SOD; apoptosis;

    Sammanfattning : Women with pregestational diabetes have a 3-5 times increased risk of giving birth to malformed babies compared with non-diabetic women. The malformations are likely to be induced before the seventh week of pregnancy, when the yolk sac is partly responsible for the transfer of metabolites to the embryo, and the uterine blood flow to the implantation site determines the net amount of nutrients available to the conceptus. 4. 4. Fetal Outcome in Experimental Diabetic Pregnancy

    Författare :Sheller Zabihi; Ulf Eriksson; Michael Welsh; Elisabeth (Lisa) Persson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cell biology; Rat; Mouse; TG; KO; Diabetes in Pregnancy; Embryo; Folic acid; Superoxide dismutase; Catalase; Glutathione peroxidase; Vascular endothelial growth factor-A; Folate binding protein-1; Bax; Bcl-2; Caspase-3; P53; Pax-3; Blood flow; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Women with pregestational diabetes have a 2-5 fold increased risk of giving birth to malformed babies compared with non-diabetic women. Diabetes-induced oxidative stress in maternal and embryonic tissues has been implicated in the teratogenic process. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Uterus transplantation: an experimental study in the rat model

    Författare :Shamima N Akhi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; infertility; microsurgery; pregnancy; rat; transplantation; uterus;

    Sammanfattning : One of the last frontiers to conquer in infertility research is to find a treatment for uterine factor infertility, which affects around 2500 Swedish women. These women cannot become pregnant or carry a pregnancy due to absence of uterus or presence of non-functioning uterus. LÄS MER
