1. District heating in future Europe : Modelling expansion potentials and mapping heat synergy regions
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a set of methodologies and approaches to investigate and determine the extent by which district heating can contribute to improved energy system efficiency and reduced carbon dioxide emissions in future Europe. The main motivation for suggesting large-scale implementation of district heating as a structural energy efficiency measure to obtain these objectives originates essentially in the predicament that a majority of European buildings today remain highly dependent on fossil fuels to provide energy needed for space heating and hot water preparation. 2. Realise the Potential! : Cost Effective and Energy Efficient District Heating in European Urban Areas
Sammanfattning : The Member States of EU27 need to accelerate the integration of energy efficient technology solutions to reach the 20% energy efficiency target set for 2020. At current pace, projections indicate that only half of expected primary energy reductions will be reached. LÄS MER
3. Föreställningar om den urbana världen : Identitetsaspekter i svensk stadsbild med exemplet Helsingborg 1903-1955
Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the subject of dominant local identities and the construction of urban representations in Sweden 1903-1955, as articulated in the city Helsingborg. The main focus falls on architecture, city planning and visual practices as means of establishing an urban identity. LÄS MER
4. Modelling District Heating Network Costs
Sammanfattning : The solution of the undergoing climate and energy crises requires a radical transformation of the energy system, in which sustainability, no carbon emissions and energy efficiency ought to play a paramount role. This revolution should extend to all areas of the energy system, including the space heating and cooling sector, which accounts for a third of the European final energy demand and, in the European continent, it is still mostly supplied by fossil fuels. 5. Influences from Building Energy Efficiency Refurbishment on a Regional District Heating System
Sammanfattning : Improving energy performance of existing buildings is an important part in decreasing energy use and in turn reduce the greenhouse gas emissions caused by human activity and the primary energy use.To be able to evaluate how energy refurbishment influences the greenhouse gas emissions and the primary energy use a wider system perspective is needed that puts the building in its context.
