    Sammanfattning : Damages are the only remedy in the law of intellectual property (IP) through which rightsholders may recover compensation following an infringement of their rights. Because the intellectual property framework’s main goal is to protect rightsholders’ investments, one might believe that damages would serve an important role in the majority of infringement cases.     Sammanfattning : The description and explanation of the determination of mens rea, or fault, in this thesis begins so to speak, at the “shop-floor” of criminal law. The analysis is based on a survey of judgements of the Swedish courts of first instance for the years 1989-1992 in cases involving intentional killing, causing death through recklessness/negligence as well as gross assault, where such offences constituted the principal crimes.     Sammanfattning : Injuries are often associated with long-term suffering and lowered functioning, and personal injuries impose a huge burden on medical care and health services in addition to the costs associated with impaired functional ability. Each year in Sweden, falling accidents are experienced by a third of those aged 60 or over and half of those aged 80 or over, while injuries from traffic accidents still account for many of the serious accidents in youths and younger adults.
