  1. 1. Assessment of increased upper airway resistance in snorers. Methodological and diagnostic considerations

    Detta är en avhandling från Otorhinolaryngology (Lund)

    Författare :Sören Berg; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1997]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arousals.; pharyngeal pressure; intrathoracic pressure; hypopnea; respiratory ventilation; oxygenation; Non apneic snorers; upper airway obstruction; Otorhinolaryngology; audiology; auditive system and speech; Otorinolaryngologi; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen;

    Sammanfattning : Popular Abstract in Swedish Vid omhändertagande av patienter med snarkning och obstruktionsproblematik är det viktigt att beakta alla grader av andningsstörning. Nuvarande utredningsmetoder är väl lämpade för att diagnostisera avancerade sjukdomstillstånd präglade av andningsuppehåll under sömnen (apnéer) men har svårare att identifiera patienter vilkas andnings- och sömnstörning är mindre uttalad. 2. 2. Pharyngeal function, airway protection and anesthetic agents

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Surgical Science

    Författare :Eva Sundman; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2002]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aspiration; postoperative pulmonary complications; hypoxia; sedation.;

    Sammanfattning : Anesthesia related complications occur most frequently in the immediate postoperative period. The three most common conditions associated with such events are ventilatory failure, airway obstruction and aspiration. The pharynx is essential for respiration and protection of the upper airway. 3. 3. A novel drug and device in anesthesia : with focus on breathing and upper airway physiology

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Physiology and Pharmacology

    Författare :Åse Lodenius; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2018]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Anesthesia-related airway complications are associated with hypoxia due to inability to secure or maintain the airway with subsequent insufficient ventilation and gas exchange. This thesis has explored the impact on airway integrity and respiratory regulation of two anesthetic compounds frequently used for sedation and a novel principle for oxygenation in patients at risk of hypoxia, in order to further improve patient safety during sedation and induction of anesthesia. 4. 4. Evaluation of medical and/or surgical treatment of anosmia/hyposmia in association with inflammatory disease of the upper airway

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Occupational Therapy and Elderly Care Research (NEUROTEC)

    Författare :Ebba Hedén Blomqvist; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nasal polyposis; olfaction; medical surgical treatment; corticosteroids; scoring; staging; endoscopy; symptoms; anosmia; hyposmia; olfactory threshold test butanol ; computed tomography; sinuses; well-being; clinical; evaluation;

    Sammanfattning : Background: There is a lack of evidence-based, prospective studies in treatment of nasal polyposis. The correlations between symptoms, polyp scores and computed tomography (CT) scans have not been studied sufficiently. Little, if any, sense of smell is common in nasal inflammatory disease. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Paediatric sleep-disordered breathing - diagnostics and treatment

    Detta är en avhandling från Göteborgs universitet

    Författare :Gunnhildur Gudnadottir; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2018]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sleep-disordered breathing; Children; Tonsillectomy; Tonsillotomy; Absenteeism; Intranasal steroid treatment; Respiratory polygraphy; RIP flow;

    Sammanfattning : Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in children causes multiple health problems and diminished quality of life. It is usually caused by tonsil and adenoid hypertrophy and is traditionally treated with adenotonsillar surgery. LÄS MER
