  1. 1. Design fires in underground hard rock mines

    Författare :Rickard Hansen; Haukur Ingason; Håkan Frantzich; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :Design fire; underground; hard rock mine; vehicle fire; smoke spread; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : During several decades considerable research activities have been conducted with respect to fires in coal mines, but the research activities with respect to hard rock mines have been limited. As the hard rock mines are getting more complex the need for deeper understanding of fires in underground hard rock mines are getting more in demand. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Rock Mass Response to Coupled Mechanical Thermal Loading : Äspö Pillar Stability Experiment, Sweden

    Författare :J. Christer Andersson; Håkan Stille; Charles Fairhurst; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Yielding; Spalling; Rock mass strength; Confinement; Fracturing; Tensile failure; Shear failure; Displacement; Acoustic Emission; Heating; Stress; Back calculation; Radial expansion; Mining engineering; Gruvteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The geological disposal of nuclear waste, in underground openings and the long-term performance of these openings demand a detailed understanding of fundamental rock mechanics. A full scale field experiment: Äspö Pillar Stability Experiment was conducted at a depth of 450 m in sparsely fractured granitic rock to examine the rock mass response between two deposition holes. 3. 3. Reactive navigation of an autonomous vehicle in underground mines

    Författare :Johan Larsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mobile Robots; Computer science; Datavetenskap; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Information technology; Informationsteknik; Computer and Systems Science; Data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : In most underground mines, LHD (Load-Haul-Dump) vehicles are used to transportore from the stope or muck-pile to a dumping point, and are typically operated by a human who is sitting on-board the vehicle. Generally, an underground mine does not offer the best working environment for humans, and the job of an LHD operator can be characterised as Three D: Dangerous, Dirty and Dull. LÄS MER

  4. 4. 3D Scan Matching for Mobile Robots with Application to Mine Mapping : Licentiate Thesis

    Författare :Martin Magnusson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with three-dimensional scan registration, in particular of underground mine tunnels. Registration of partial range scans is an essential part of building 3D maps, and autonomous creation of reliable maps is a first step towards autonomous mining vehicles. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Study of heat release rates of mining vehicles in underground hard rock mines

    Författare :Rickard Hansen; Haukur Ingason; Nicholas Dembsey; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : A unique study on fire safety in hard rock underground mines with focus on heat release rates of mining vehicles is presented. A literature inventory was conducted with respect to fires in underground hard rock mines, which revealed that the most common fire cause in underground mines was flammable liquid sprayed onto hot surface and the most common fire object was a vehicle.
