Sammanfattning : This thesis offers critical perspectives on a history syllabus for vocational education and training (VET) tracks in Swedish upper secondary schools and adds to our knowledge and understanding of the educative function of history education for the individual and for society. The overall aim of this thesis is to critically investigate discourses that are voiced in different fields about the construction and reproduction of the history curriculum in VET tracks. LÄS MER
3. History in the Service of Mankind : International Guidelines and History Education in Upper Secondary Schools in Sweden, 1927–2002
Sammanfattning : In this study the guidelines of the League of Nations, UNESCO and the Council of Europe are investigated in relation to Swedish national curricula, teachers’ perceptions of and students’ work in history, from 1927 to 2002.Inspired by John I Goodlad’s notions of curricula and implementation, the formulation of history is studied. Sammanfattning : Polio epidemics appeared in Sweden in 1881 and at the turn of the 20th century the disease became an annual feature in the epidemiological pattern. Due to vaccination starting in 1957 epidemics ceased to exist in Sweden around 1965. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : The Well-Situated Girl is the first academic study of the history of Swedish Girl Scouting. Through a qualitative and interpretive method, which has its methodological home in the hermeneutic tradition, and with theoretical inspiration from Simone de Beauvoir’s work The Second Sex the aim of the thesis is to conceptualize Girl Scouting as girls’ and women’s history.
