1. Platelet Inhibition and Bleeding in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
Sammanfattning : A substantial number of patients undergoing cardiac surgery are on dual anti-platelet treatment with clopidogrel and aspirin. A disadvantage with this treatment is increased risk of bleeding. Bleeding is a complication of major concern associated with adverse outcome for the patient and increased hospital resource utilization. LÄS MER
2. Exploring the intersection of design, reflection and sustainable food shopping practices : The case of the EcoPanel
Sammanfattning : Food production has been shown to have considerable negative impacts on the environment. A means to reduce this is to choose organic products when shopping for food. LÄS MER
3. The importance of major histocompatibility complex class II genes for the development of autoimmune inflammation
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the role of major histocompatibility complex (Mhc) class II molecules in development of autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), was studied. By combining an experimental model for RA, collagen type II induced arthritis (CIA), with molecular biology methods the importance of polymorphism in Mhc class II genes for disease development was investigated. 4. Design of new biodegradable polymer matrices for controlled drug delivery
Sammanfattning : Conventional drug administration technologies display poorcontrollability, and lead to high plasma concentrations andshort duration times, which frequently lead to adverse effects.Controlled release technology aims at predictable andreproducible delivery of an active substance over an extendedperiod of time, yielding optimal response and prolongedefficiency, and thus offering considerable improvement of manytreatments. 5. Pulmonary complications after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation
Sammanfattning : The respiratory tract is one of the most common and serious sites for complications in HSCT patients. In this project the incidence, outcome, and risk factors for patients with infectious or non-infectious pulmonary complications were studied. Bronchoscopy and pulmonary function tests (PFTs) were evaluated as diagnostic tools. LÄS MER
