    Sammanfattning : All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), a biologically active metabolite of vitamin A, is a powerful inducer of terminal differentiation and growth arrest of several myeloid cell lines in vitro. Although the efficacy of ATRA as an anti-cancer drug has been demonstrated by the successful treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), knowledge concerning the molecular mechanisms directing ATRA-induced differentiation and cell cycle arrest of myeloid cells is lacking.     Sammanfattning : Tissue factor (TF) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that initiates the blood coagulation cascade and is also involved in cell migration, tumour metastasis and angiogenesis. Pathologic expression of tissue factor by monocytes contributes to several thrombotic complications like acute coronary artery disease and disseminated intravascular coagulation. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Antitumour properties of the cyanoguanidine CHS 828 and analogues were discovered in 1997. CHS 828 is presently in clinical phase I/II trials. This thesis encompasses in vitro studies of the kinetics and mode of cell death induced in the human cell line U-937 GTB, by CHS 828 and the standard antitumour drug etoposide. LÄS MER
