  1. 1. Strategists – free or bound? : On individuality and typicality among CEOs

    Författare :Anna Larsson; Helén Anderson; Elisabeth Sundin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Strategists; individuality; typicality; institutionalised environments; reflection; Strateger; individualitet; typiskhet; institutionaliserad omvärld; reflektion; Business studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study is to articulate and describe interpretations/ideas of companies, and to re-contextualize strategists, and to discuss strategists as free or bound, guided by the broader sociological framework framing strategists as individual subjects within an institutionalized (objectified) context of business. This thesis departs from a notion of “companification” in and among organizations as a process of diffusion of institutionalised practices and ideas of companies and raises the question of how practicing strategists interpret companies in an institutionalised environment (business society). 2. 2. Linear Coding, Applications and Supremus Typicality

    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Linear coding; Supremus typicality; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : Detta arbete börjar med att presentera en kodningssats gällande linjärkodning över ändliga ringar för kodning av korrelerade diskretaminneslösa källor. Denna sats inkluderar som specialfall motsvarandeuppnåbarhetssatser från Elias och Csiszár gällande linjär kodning överändliga kroppar. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mind in Action : Action Representation and the Perception of Biological Motion

    Författare :Paul Hemeren; Högskolan i Skövde; []

    Sammanfattning : The ability to understand and communicate about the actions of others is a fundamental aspect of our daily activity. How can we talk about what others are doing? What qualities do different actions have such that they cause us to see them as being different or similar? What is the connection between what we see and the development of concepts and words or expressions for the things that we see? To what extent can two different people see and talk about the same things? Is there a common basis for our perception, and is there then a common basis for the concepts we form and the way in which the concepts become lexicalized in language? The broad purpose of this thesis is to relate aspects of perception, categorization and language to action recognition and conceptualization. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Bilingual Lexicon from a Developmental Perspective : A Word Association Study of Persian-Swedish Bilinguals

    Sammanfattning : Some studies have shown that the L1 mental lexicon is organized mainly on a semantic basis, while the organization of the L2 mental lexicon in the early stages of development is phonologically based, that is non-semantic, indicating a less profound lexical knowledge and eliciting a higher degree of nonnative-like associations. This study examines whether or not this is the case. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Scripted knowledge packages : implicit and explicit constraints on comprehension and memory

    Författare :Stefan Samuelsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis was (a) to specify how the use of predictive inferences in comprehension is constrained by scripted knowledge packages, (b) to examine recall for scripted representations, and (c) to specify mechanisms underlying the interplay between script-based constraints on predictive inferences and memory for these generic knowledge representations. In fourteen experiments, lipreading represented a method to detect implicit and explicit constraints on predictive inferences imposed by typicality, abstraction, and temporal order. LÄS MER
