  1. 6. Characterization of the Pancreas in Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes

    Författare :Marcus Lundberg; Oskar Skog; Olle Korsgren; Martha Campbell-Thompson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; HbA1c; interferon-stimulated genes; parasympathetic; axon; cellular stress; islets; exocrine; immunology; leucocytes; inflammation; human; pancreas; Endocrinology and Diabetology; Endokrinologi och Diabetologi; Immunologi; Immunology; Patologi; Pathology;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes is recognized by hyperglycaemia and polyuria. Complications, reduced quality of life and staggering health-care costs are all derived from the disease. Two subclasses of diabetes are Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and Type 2 diabetes (T2D). LÄS MER

  2. 7. Search for MODY and Type 2 diabetes genes

    Författare :Markku Lehto; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 2 diabetes; mutation; MODY; mitochondrial DNA; MIDD; insulin deficiency; hepatocyte nuclear factor; Gestational diabetes; glucokinase; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes is a heterogeneous disease influenced by both environmental and genetic factors. Maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) is considered as a subform of Type 2 diabetes, which is inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion and expressed at childhood or early adult life. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Diabetes complications, risk factors, and glycaemic indices in persons with type 1 diabetes

    Författare :Sara Hallström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; Hyperglycaemia; Diabetes complications; Renal insufficiency; Amputation; Atrial fibrillation; Mortality; Myocardial infarction; Heart failure; Stroke; Continuous glucose monitoring;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Persons with type 1 diabetes are at higher risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality. An important risk factor for diabetes complications is hyperglycaemia. Hyperglycaemia has traditionally been measured using HbA1c, but glycaemic targets are also provided for continuous glucose monitoring. LÄS MER

  4. 9. The genetic background of gestational diabetes mellitus

    Författare :Anastasia Papadopoulou; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gestational diabetes mellitus; HLA; TCF7L2; PTPN22; Post partum diabetes; Type 1 Diabetes; Type 2 Diabetes; Islet Cell Autoantibodies;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this work is to better determine the genetic background of gestational diabetes (GDM) and to examine how specific genes affect the development of diabetes post partum. In the DiPiS (Diabetes Prediction in Skåne) study we typed for HLA-DQB1 alleled, the transcription factor 7-like 2(TCF7L2) rs7903146, rs12255372 and rs7901695 SNPs, the 1858 C>T SNP of the protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor 22 (PTPN22) gene and we tested for the presence of islet cell autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65), insulinoma-associated antigen 2 (IA-2) and insulin in women who had been diagnosed with GDM at least once during 2000-2004. 5. 10. Integrating multi-omics for type 2 diabetes : Data science and big data towards personalized medicine

    Författare :Klev Diamanti; Jan Komorowski; Claes Wadelius; Manfred Grabherr; Peter Spégel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; type 2 diabetes; multi-omics; genomics; metabolomics; data science; machine learning; personalized medicine; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a complex metabolic disease characterized by multi-tissue insulin resistance and failure of the pancreatic β-cells to secrete sufficient amounts of insulin. Cells recruit transcription factors (TF) to specific genomic loci to regulate gene expression that consequently affects the protein and metabolite abundancies. LÄS MER
