1. Modeling and Control of EGR on Marine Two-Stroke Diesel Engines
Sammanfattning : The international marine shipping industry is responsible for the transport of around 90% of the total world trade. Low-speed two-stroke diesel engines usually propel the largest trading ships. This engine type choice is mainly motivated by its high fuel efficiency and the capacity to burn cheap low-quality fuels. 2. Alkylate Petrol. Environmental Aspects of Volatile Hydrocarbon Emissions
Sammanfattning : All hydrocarbons emitted from production and use of petrol are hazardous to human health and the environment, but to a different extent for individual compounds. This thesis compares and characterizes C2-C8 hydrocarbons related to alkylate petrol and conventional petrol. LÄS MER
3. In-Nozzle Flow and Primary Breakup Investigations of Marine Two-Stroke Diesel Engine Injectors
Sammanfattning : This thesis will focus on the experimental studies of in-nozzle flow and primary breakup of pressure-atomized fuel sprays as used in large marine two-stroke Diesel engines. To further increase the efficiency of large marine two-stroke Diesel engines, a better understanding of the fuel spray atomization process is necessary. LÄS MER
4. In-Nozzle Flow, Spray and Combustion Investigations of Two-Stroke Marine Diesel Engine Fuel Injectors
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the experimental studies of the cavitating in-nozzle flow of large two-stroke marine Diesel engine fuel injector nozzles and how it affects the spray morphology and combustion behaviour. To further increase the efficiency of large two-stroke marine Diesel engines, a better understanding of the fuel spray atomization process is necessary. LÄS MER
5. In-Cylinder Fluid Flow, Fuel Preparation and Combustion in SI Engines - Application of Optical Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : In this thesis laser-based measurements of in-cylinder flow and fuel concentrations in two stroke and direct injected four-stroke engines are presented. The major problem with the carburetted two-stroke engine is the short-circuiting of fuel that occurs during the scavenging phase. This leads to large emissions of unburned hydrocarbons. LÄS MER
