  1. 11. Assessment of Left Ventricular Function and Hemodynamics Using Three-dimensional Echocardiography

    Författare :Kambiz Shahgaldi; Lars-Åke Brodin; Michael Haney; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Three-dimensional echocardiography; heart chambers; flow-volume loop; left ventricular ejection fraction; visualization; left ventricular stroke volume; left ventricular outflow tract; and single-heartbeat; Medical technology; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Left ventricular (LV) volumes and ejection fraction (EF) are important predictors of cardiac morbidity and mortality. LV volumes provide valuable prognostic information which isparticularly useful in the selection of therapy or determination of the optimal time for surgery. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Simulations of the Dynamics of Fibre Suspension Flows

    Författare :Stefan B Lindström; Tetsu Uesaka; Myat Htun; Fritz Bark; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fibre; fibre suspension; simulation; paper; papermaking; forming; fibre orientation distribution; fibre flexibility; viscosity; first normal stress difference; fluid flow; simple shear flow; two-way coupling; three-dimensional; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : A new model for simulating non-Brownian flexible fibres suspended in a Newtonian fluid has been developed. Special attention has been given to include realistic flow conditions found in the industrial papermaking process in the key features of the model; it is the intention of the author to employ the model in simulations of the forming section of the paper machine in future studies. 3. 13. Coding of Three-dimensional Video Content : Diffusion-based Coding of Depth Images and Displacement Intra-Coding of Plenoptic Contents

    Författare :Yun Li; Mårten Sjöström; Ulf Jennehag; Roger Olsson; Touradj Ebrahimi; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, the three-dimensional (3D) movie industry has reaped massive commercial success in the theaters. With the advancement of display technologies, more experienced capturing and generation of 3D contents, TV broadcasting, movies, and games in 3D have entered home entertainment, and it is likely that 3D applications will play an important role in many aspects of people's life in a not distant future. 4. 14. Regulation of fibroblast activity by keratinocytes, TGF-β and IL-1α : studies in two- and three dimensional in vitro models

    Författare :Anita Koskela von Sydow; Mikael Ivarsson; Torbjörn Bengtsson; Hans Törmä; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fibroblast; Keratinocyte; TGF-β; IL-1α; coculture; fibrosis CTGF CNN 2; dermal; organotypic culture;

    Sammanfattning : Dysregulated wound healing is commonly associated with excessive fibrosis. Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF/CCN2) is characteristically overexpressed in fibrotic diseases and stimulated by transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) in dermal fibroblasts. Reepithelialisation and epidermal wound coverage counteract excessive scar formation. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Dissolved Air Flotation

    Författare :Mia Bondelind; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; two- and three-dimensional; Dissolved Air Flotation DAF ; aggregation model; Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD ; field study; surface forces; turbulence; single and multiphase flow;

    Sammanfattning : Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is a well-established treatment method for water containing low density particles. The density-driven process is operated by the injection of water saturated with air under high pressure. At the pressure reduction microscopic air bubbles are formed. LÄS MER
