1. Access management for road hauliers and rail operators in intermodal freight terminals
Sammanfattning : A pivotal element in the transport industry, intermodal freight transport, is rather complex due to the numerous transport modes and actors involved. Terminal operators in intermodal freight transport face major challenges to provide seamless flows of containers via their terminals. LÄS MER
2. Novel tools for the study and diagnosis of bacterial infections : exploring the intersection of microbiology and microfabrication
Sammanfattning : The alarming increase in antibiotic resistance calls for new approaches to study and diagnose bacterial infections. In my thesis, I worked at the intersection of microbiology, microfabrication, and optical probes to develop novel diagnostic and screening assays for microbiology and elucidate bacterial pathogenesis in urinary tract infections (UTI). 3. HPC scheduling in a brave new world
Sammanfattning : Many breakthroughs in scientific and industrial research are supported by simulations and calculations performed on high performance computing (HPC) systems. These systems typically consist of uniform, largely parallel compute resources and high bandwidth concurrent file systems interconnected by low latency synchronous networks. LÄS MER
4. Development of a robust and rapid microfluidics-based antibiotic susceptibility test : From prototype to clinical implementation
Sammanfattning : Even though bacteria normally are rapidly cleared from the blood by the immune system, a blood stream infection may arise, in turn possibly leading to sepsis and septic shock. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition, where the inflammatory response to infection targets tissues and organs. LÄS MER
5. Wireless Sensor Network Positioning Techniques
Sammanfattning : Position information is one of the key requirements for wireless sensor networks(WSNs). Since GPS receivers have drawbacks when used in low-power sensor nodes, mainly due to latency in position recovery and limited access to GPS satellites in indoor-type scenarios, extracting the position information by means of the network itself, so-called positioning or localization, has been considered an eective solution for the posi-tioning problem.
