    Sammanfattning : A series of numerical investigations is undertaken using a wide range of turbulence mod-els including conventional and non-conventional URANS models, hybrid URANS-LESmethods and LES to capture a large variety of physical mechanisms that produce pres-sure pulsations in the swirling flows. The present study is an attempt to close this lack and provide new insights on the effect of rotation on the turbulent mixing of a passive scalar, on turbulence (joint) statistics as well as the turbulence structure.     Sammanfattning : Coastal mountains of significant elevation impose constraints for the surrounding flow. The aim of this study is to describe the modifications of the marine atmospheric boundary layer that occur offshore of the west coast of the United States.
