21. Numerical Modeling of Turbulent Gas-Particle Flow
Sammanfattning : This work presents a theoretical and numerical study of gas-particle two-phase flow within the Eulerian framework. Although gas-particle flows have been extensively studied, there is still no general agreement on the constitutive equations for an Eulerian-Eulerian model in which the dispersed phase is treated as a continuum, i.e. a granular fluid. 22. Numerical Modeling of Atomization in Spray Systems
Sammanfattning : Dispersed multiphase flows refer to dynamic systems comprising two or more phases where at least one phase is in the form of fine particles evolving in and interacting with a surrounding fluid. Spray systems fall into that category. LÄS MER
23. Computational modeling of complex flow : Doctoral thesis at Chalmers University of Technology
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we consider the following aspects of computational modeling of complex flows: (i) subgrid modeling, (ii) stability, (iii) a posteriori error estimation, and (iv) computational platform. We develop a framework for adaptivity and error control for multiscale problems, in particular for turbulent flow, based on a posteriori error estimates. LÄS MER
24. Modeling of Pulverised Wood Flames
Sammanfattning : The aim of the current work was at development and validation of modeling tools for simulation of pulverised wood flames in furnaces and study how different factors influence on such flames. The numerical model involves different sub-models for the physo-chemical processes, such as, two-phase flow motion, drying, devolatilization and shrinkage of particles, the formation and oxidation of volatile, tar and char, turbulence-chemistry interaction, turbulence-radiation interaction, etc. LÄS MER
25. Turbulent impurity transport in tokamaks
Sammanfattning : Nuclear fusion is foreseen as one of the options for future energy production. One of the remaining scientific challenges for establishing the physics basis of future magnetic fusion reactors is to find scenarios where the impurity content in the core can be kept low. LÄS MER
