11. Towards Improved Scale-Resolving Modeling and Simulations of Turbulent Flows
Sammanfattning : Scale-resolving simulations are viewed as powerful means for predicting complex turbulentflows, as often encountered in aeronautical applications. However, since turbulent scalesspan over a considerable range from the smallest Kolmogorov scales to the largest ofequivalence to configuration size, scale-resolving computations are often demandingon computational resources and, furthermore, on the underlying numerical methodsused in the simulations. 12. A study of flow fields during filling of a sampler
Sammanfattning : More and more attention has been paid to decreasing the number and size of non-metallic inclusions existing in the final products recently in steel industries. Therefore, more efforts have been made to monitor the inclusions' size distributions during the metallurgy process, especially at the secondary steelmaking period. LÄS MER
13. Heat Balance Modeling of a Stationary Fluidized-Bed Furnace Burning Biomass
Sammanfattning : The influence of biomass fuel properties on the heat balance of the bottom region (bed and splash zone) of a commercial-scale bubbling fluidized-bed furnace is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The experiments have been carried out at the Chalmers 12 MWth research boiler, operated under non-circulating conditions during most of the experiments. LÄS MER
14. RANS Simulations of Interaction between Premixed Flame and Turbulence using OpenFOAM Library
Sammanfattning : Unsteady multi-dimensional numerical simulation of turbulent flames is a widely recognized tool for research and development of future internal combustion engines capable of satisfying stringent requirements for ultra-low emission and highly efficient energy conversion. To attain success, such simulations need, in particular, elaborated CFD software and predictive models of turbulent burning. LÄS MER
15. Modeling Auto-Ignition, Flame Propagation and Combustion in Non-Stationary Turbulent Sprays
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on detailed numerical studies of spray formation, auto-ignition, envelope flame development and combustion in a simple two-dimensional axi-symmetric geometry. A Lagrangian -- Eulerian formulation is used to analyze the droplet motion and gas flow field. LÄS MER
