21. Identification and tuning of algorithmic parameters in parallel matrix computations : Hessenberg reduction and tensor storage format conversion
Sammanfattning : This thesis considers two problems in numerical linear algebra and high performance computing (HPC): (i) the parallelization of a new blocked Hessenberg reduction algorithm using Parallel Cache Assignment (PCA) and the tunability of its algorithm parameters, and (ii) storing and manipulating dense tensors on shared memory HPC systems. The Hessenberg reduction appears in the Aggressive Early Deflation (AED) process for identifying converged eigenvalues in the distributed multishift QR algorithm (state-of-the-art algorithm for computing all eigenvalues for dense square matrices). 22. Tunable superconducting transmissionline resonator for qubit coupling
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis design, fabrication, and measurements of tunable superconducting microwave transmission line resonators are described. The resonators are of quarter wavelength type were the tuning is achieved by changing one of the boundary conditions of the resonator through a tunable impedance. LÄS MER
23. Compact solid-state lasers in the near-infrard and visible spectral range
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the exploration of new concepts for compact solid-state lasers in the visible and near-infrared spectral range using new components such as volume Bragg gratings for wavelength stabilisation and wavelength tuning. Also single-walled carbon nanotubes for mode-locking and Q-switching of lasers have been studied. LÄS MER
24. Spectral control of lasers and optical parametric oscillators with volume Bragg gratings
25. Automatic Tuning of PID Controllers Based on Asymmetric Relay Feedback
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents an improved version of the classic relay autotuner. The proposed autotuner uses an asymmetric relay function to better excite the process in the experiment phase. The improved excitation provides the possibility to obtain better models and hence better tuning, without making the autotuner more complicated or time consuming. LÄS MER
