  1. 21. Fibroblast growth factor-8 regulation of breast cancer cell growth

    Författare :Emeli Nilsson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Expression of fibroblast growth factor-8 (FGF-8) is increased in a large number of breast cancers. In in vitro and in vivo breast cancer models FGF-8 promotes growth, invasion and angiogenesis. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Cytotoxic Cyclotides : Structure, Activity, and Mode of Action

    Författare :Erika Svangård; Per Claeson; Lars Bohlin; Ulf Göransson; John H. Cardellina II; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacognosy; cyclotide; cytotoxic; cancer; cyclic cystine knot; Viola; Violaceae; liposome; hollow fibre; homology modelling; mass spectrometry; amphipathic; structure–activity; tumour; membrane disruption; necrosis; Farmakognosi; Pharmacognosy; Farmakognosi;

    Sammanfattning : Cyclotides are small cyclic plant proteins, and this thesis addresses their cytotoxic structure-activity properties and their mode of action on human cancer cell lines. Cyclotides were isolated from Viola odorata and Viola tricolor; three novel cyclotide sequences and two known sequences, but of new origin, were identified using mass spectrometry, amino acid analysis, and Edman degradation. 3. 23. Language ability in patients with low-grade glioma - detecting signs of subtle dysfunction

    Författare :Malin Antonsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Low-grade glioma; language ability; high-level language; tumour surgery; brain tumour; writing; keystroke logging;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Low-grade glioma (LGG) is a slow-growing brain tumour often situated in or near areas involved in language and/or cognitive functions. Consequently, there is a risk that patients develop language impairments due to tumour growth or surgical resection. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Transforming growth factor-ß. Signal regulation in health and disease

    Författare :Urban Molander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TGF-b; BMP; Smad; signal transduction; LDL; skin tumour; mesangial;

    Sammanfattning : TGF-b superfamily members have been shown to play a pivotal role in multicellular organisms. Knowledge about signal transduction pathways is important in order to understand and cure diseases like cancer where TGF-b´s growth inhibitory signal often are disenabled via mutated or absent signalling components. 5. 25. Studies of radioactive cisplatin (191Pt) for tumour imaging and therapy

    Författare :Johan Areberg; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cytology; mice; in vitro; gamma camera; tumour imaging; platinum pharmacokinetics; cisplatin; radioactive; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : A radioactive variant of the cytostatic agent cis-dichlorodiammineplatinum(II), cisplatin, was synthesised from 191PtCl4. The 191Pt-cisplatin was found to be a sterile product of high radionuclide, radiochemical and chemical purity. LÄS MER
