  1. 1. Interaction of Calcium Ions with Lipid Membranes

    Författare :Baharan Ali Doosti; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phospholipid bilayer membrane; membrane dynamics; micromanipulation; calcium ions; cell migration.; membrane nanotube; membrane tubular protrusions; calcium ion concentration gradient; membrane bending; giant unilamellar vesicle;

    Sammanfattning : Bilayer membranes enclose and shield the biological cell and its inner compartments, as well as the tubular networks that exist within and between the cells. Due to their fluidic nature, the membranes are incredibly dynamic and flexible, which allows them to bend, reshape and fuse in response to mechanical and chemical stimuli within their natural microenvironments. 2. 2. Methane and Volatile Fatty Acids Production from Toxic Substrate

    Författare :- Lukitawesa; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; toxic substrate; methane; volatile fatty acid; anaerobic digestion; membrane bioreactor; factor; tubular membrane; two-stage digestion; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Sammanfattning : Challenges caused by climate change and global warming have created a demand for improvements in resource recovery and the promotion of a circular economy. Waste management is one such challenge for which more recycling options are required for producing materials and energy sources from wastes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cubic Cell Membrane Architectures. Taking another look at membrane bound cell spaces

    Författare :Tomas Landh; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Livsmedelsteknik; Food and drink technology; projections; image analysis; periodic cubic surfaces; membrane morphology; cubic membranes; cell ultrastructure;

    Sammanfattning : A systematic study of cell membrane morphologies whose structure is governed by cubic symmetries has been performed. It is suggested that they are described by periodic cubic surfaces for which space filling surface foliations given by truncated Fourier series defined by the space groups is used as structural representations. 4. 4. Milk Membrane Lipids - Dispersions, Emulsions and Interactions with Proteins

    Författare :Rianne Waninge; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Model milk membrane lipids; Emulsions; Vesicles; Cryo-TEM; Milk fat globule membrane; MFGM; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Milk is a dilute aqueous dispersion with a complex mixture of proteins, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Milk membrane lipids are a part of the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM), which covers the fat globules. During dairy processing membrane material is released and surface structure features are altered. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Proinsulin C-peptide : membrane interactions and intracellular signaling

    Författare :Zhihui Zhong; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Human renal tubular cell; intracellular signal transduction; ERK1 2; JNK; Na ; K -A TPase; G-protein coupled receptor.;

    Sammanfattning : In the past decade, new evidence has emerged of a physiological role for C-peptide. C-peptide replacement improves renal and nerve function and augments regional blood flow in type I diabetic patients. LÄS MER
