1. Genetic and molecular regulation of epithelial tube morphogenesis
Sammanfattning : Networks of epithelial tubes, such as the vertebrate lung, kidney and vascular system, enable transport of gases and nutrients to all tissues in the body. These tubes are built up by a single layer of polarized epithelial cells, with the apical membrane facing the lumen. LÄS MER
2. The Role of Shb in Angiogenesis, FGF and VEGF Signalling in Endothelial Cells
Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is defined as the formation of new capillary blood vessels from pre-existing ones. This process involves several steps including: migration, proliferation and differentiation of endothelial cells into blood vessels. LÄS MER
3. The role of progesterone in the regulation of ciliary activity in the fallopian tube
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the distribution and regulation of membrane progesterone receptors (mPRs) that may be involved in regulating ciliary activity in the fallopian tube. The fallopian tube serves to transport the egg and spermatozoa to achieve fertilization. LÄS MER
4. Cdc42 and Rac1 in Pancreatic Tubulogenesis and Islet Formation
Sammanfattning : Tubes form the basic structure of several organs like lungs, kidneys, glandular organs like the pancreas, mammary and salivary glands. Tube formation involves a series of dynamic and interdependent cellular processes, including cytoskeletal reorganization, assembly of intercellular junctional complexes, and cell polarization. 5. High Temperature Corrosion of Some Stainless Steels
Sammanfattning : The high temperature corrosion of the alloy Sanicro 28 (35Fe27Cr31Ni) is addressed in this thesis. The influence of water vapour and two potassium-containing salts was investigated. In addition, three other alloys were studied. Polished steel coupons were isothermally exposed in tube furnaces at 600–800°C in 5% O2 and in 5% O2 + 40% H2O. LÄS MER
