  1. 21. Trypsinogen and Its Activation in Acute Pancreatitis

    Författare :Ulf Petersson; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TAP; ERCP; carboxypeptidase B activation peptide; trypsinogen activation peptide; trypsinogen activation; Acute pancreatitis; trypsinogen; CAPAP; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pancreatic enzymes, neutrophils, free radicals and cytokines are involved in the pathophysiology of AP. Clarification of their interaction and time-course will improve our understanding of AP and provide a better basis for treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Host cell adhesion of Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes

    Författare :Carl Johan Treutiger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Plasmodium falciparum; erythrocyte rosetting; cytoadherence; cerebral malaria; PfEMPI; serum proteins; PECAM-I CD31;

    Sammanfattning : Excessive binding of Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes to the microvascular endothelium (cytoadherence) and to uninfected eryrthrocytes (rosetting) are regarded as key-events in the development of a severe malaria infection. P. falciparum rosetting was confirmed to be associated with the development of cerebral malaria in The Gambia. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Analysis of proteins related toautoimmune and inflammatorydiseases with focus on newenrichment methodologies and MALDI-TOF MS

    Författare :Yuye Zhou; Åsa Emmer; Margret Thorsteinsdottir; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Protein; Glycopeptide; IgG; Osteopontin; Enrichment; Digestion; Separation; Microchip; MALDI-TOF MS; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins have been widely studied in biological sample analysis due to the association with diseases. In the present project, method and technique development was carried out on the analysis of two proteins, immunoglobulin G (IgG) and osteopontin (OPN). LÄS MER

  4. 24. Identification of new proteins and biological processes in the apicomplexan Toxoplasma gondii

    Författare :Silvia Botero-Kleiven; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The apicomplexan protozoan Toxoplasma gondii is a ubiquitous parasite of humans and animals. Entering its host through the digestive system, it possesses the ability to rapidly disseminate in the body and infect a wide range of tissues and cells. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Genetic design for facilitated production of human peptide hormones inEscherichia coli

    Författare :Per Jonasson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic strategies have become important in the design ofefficient processes for production of recombinant proteins.When constructing a production scheme, inherent properties,purity and quality requirements, as well as the final use ofthe protein, have to be considered. LÄS MER
