1. On the role of transversus abdominis in trunk motor control
Sammanfattning : All trunk muscles are important contributors to spine stability. However, the deepest abdominal muscle, transversus abdominis (TrA), with its characteristically horizontal fibre orientation seems to serve a unique function in trunk motor control. LÄS MER
2. Asymmetric lateral loading of the human trunk
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to characterize the biomechanics and neuromuscular control of the human trunk in response to asymmetric lateral loading. The pulling force and strength capacities as well as muscle activation patterns, trunk kinematics and postural balance in relation to lateral trunk flexion and loading were given special consideration. 3. EMG and strength in trunk and hip muscles
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study the myouelectric activity of all major muscles involved in the movements and stabilization of the trunk, pelvis and hips during training exercises, postures, motor tasks, maximal strength performance and locomotion. By use of ultra-sound, EMG electrodes could be guided safely and accurately into muscles situated even close to the spinal column, such as psoas, quadratus lumborum and deep parts of erector spinae. 4. Methods for analysis of 3D movement of the trunk during treadmill locomotion
Sammanfattning : Human locomotion is a common activity and although much progress has been made in the analysis and modeling of movement, we still have a rather limited understanding of the basic mechanisms of normal locomotion. A full understanding requires the integration of the underlying neural mechanisms with the 3D dynamics (kinetics + kinematics) of locomotion. LÄS MER
5. The Public Transport Preferences of Elderly People; A study related to individual capacity and environmental stress in service route traffic and other systems
Sammanfattning : Providing accessible, acceptable and appreciated public transport for elderly people is essential. This work studies the relation between elderly people’s preferences of standard factors in different public transport systems, and their physical capacity. LÄS MER
