  1. 21. Chemokine Receptor CCR9: Studies on the Generation and Localization of Gut Tropic Lymphocytes

    Författare :Marcus Svensson Frej; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; small intestine; transplantation; serologi; CCR9; CCL25; chemokines; lymphocyte homing; Immunology; serology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lymphocytes are important mediators of adaptive immune responses. Naive T lymphocytes circulate in the blood and lymph between different secondary lymphoid organs in search for their specific antigen. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Characterization of dengue virus isolates from patients experiencing dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever, and dengue shock syndrome

    Författare :Anne Tuiskunen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The four serotypes of dengue virus (DENV) belong to the genus flavivirus, and have a positive sense, single-stranded RNA genome of ~11 kb. The DENVs cause the most common arthropod-borne viral disease in man with ~100 million infections per year. The sole measure of control is limiting the mosquito vectors Aedes aegypti and Ae. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Novel treatment of African trypanosomiasis

    Författare :Suman Kumar Vodnala; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT) or Sleeping Sickness is fatal if untreated. Current drugs used for the treatment of HAT have difficult treatment regimens and unacceptable toxicity related issues. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Adenovirus species B interactions with CD46

    Författare :Dan Gustafsson; Ya-Fang Mei; Urs Greber; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Adenovirus 11; CD46; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Adenoviruses (Ad) are double-stranded (ds) DNA, non-enveloped viruses. There are seven species (A-G) of human Ads with 52 knownserotypes to date. Human Ads cause a broad range of pathologies, ranging from upper respiratory tract infections to persistent urinary tract infections. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Biological determinants of HIV infection : studies of viral evolution during disease progression in children and adults

    Författare :Åsa Björndal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1 HIV-2 biological phenotype genetic subtype chemokine receptors disease progression monocyte-derived macrophages;

    Sammanfattning : Coreceptor usage of primary HIV-1 isolates was analysed in relation to their biological phenotype and the severity of HIV-1 infection in the patient. The indicator cell lines, U87 glioma cells engineered to express CD4 and one of the chemokine receptors CCR1, CCR2b, CCR3, CCR5 or CXCR4, were infected with a panel of well-characterized primary HIV-1 isolates.
