  1. 1. In-situ activated hydrogen evolution from pH-neutral electrolytes

    Författare :John Gustavsson; Ann Cornell; Olof Forsén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :molybdate; trivalent cations; electrolysis; hypochlorite reduction; films; electrolysis; chlorate process; molybdat; trivalenta katjoner; elektrolys; hypokloritreduktion; filmer; kloratprocessen; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this work was to better understand how molybdate and trivalent cations can be used as additives to pH neutral electrolytes to activate the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER). Special emphasis was laid on the chlorate process and therefore also to some of the other effects that the additives may have in that particular process. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Solvent Extraction Studies with Substituted Malonamides and Oligopyridines Influence of Structure and Chemical Properties on the Extraction Ability of Trivalent Actinides and Lanthanides

    Författare :Lena Spjuth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lanthanide; malonamides; synergism; transmutation; oligopyridines; separation; solvent extraction; actinide; basicity;

    Sammanfattning : Separation and transmutation of spent nuclear fuel has been considered as a complement to direct disposal in a deep geological repository. The time needed for the waste to decay to natural background levels can be drastically decreased if the long-lived radionuclides, mainly the actinides, in the spent nuclear fuel are separated and transmuted to short-lived or stable nuclides. 3. 3. Molecular Insight into Ion-Specific Interactions : Vibrational Sum Frequency Study of the Carboxylic Acid Moiety

    Författare :Adrien Sthoer; Eric Tyrode; Paul Cremer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; specific ion effects; carboxylic acid; fatty acid Langmuir monolayer; vibrational sum frequency spectroscopy; VSFS; Electrical double layer;

    Sammanfattning : Ion specific effects at charged interfaces find numerous applications in colloidal sciences and play a vital role in many biological processes. Despite having been studied for over a century, starting with the work of F. Hofmeister in the 1880s, a comprehensive molecular  understanding remains elusive. LÄS MER
