  1. 1. Improvement of the AMS-technique and applications to 3H and 59Ni Measurements

    Författare :Madis Kiisk; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; accelerator mass spectrometry AMS ; development of AMS technique; 59Ni; tritium; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Kiisk;

    Sammanfattning : Accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) is a highly sensitive technique for counting atoms. Its main advantage in comparison with radiometric methods is the smaller amount of sample required (by a factor of a thousand). The method has a high efficiency and requires only some ten mg of sample material. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Exploring phenomena that affect the fate and impact of radioactive materials in the blue mussel

    Författare :Benedict Jaeschke; Clare Bradshaw; Andrew Turner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Radioecology; ionising radiation; environmental protection; Mytilus edulis; bioaccumulation; dose-response; ecotoxicology; tritium; particle; hypoxia; marin ekotoxikologi; Marine Ecotoxicology;

    Sammanfattning : Current protection of the marine environment from radiation is based largely on measuring, estimating and modelling accumulation and impact(s) of radionuclides in a few marine species. Using a relevant marine organism, this thesis focusses on investigating some poorly described phenomena that could cause deviations from predicted measurements. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Experimental studies of materials migration in magnetic confinement fusion devices : Novel methods for measurement of macro particle migration, transport of atomic impurities and characterization of exposed surfaces

    Författare :Igor Bykov; Henric Bergsåker; Matej Mayer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; tokamak; RFP; divertor; limiter; SOL; transport; migration; surface analysis; IBA; ion micro beam; beryllium; tritium; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : During several decades of research and development in the field of Magnetically Confined Fusion (MCF) the preferred selection of materials for Plasma Facing Components (PFC) has changed repeatedly. Without doubt, endurance of the first wall will decide research availability and lifespan of the first International Thermonuclear Research Reactor (ITER). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Neutron emission spectroscopy studies of fusion plasmas of deuterium-tritium in tokamaks

    Författare :Marco Tardocchi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Neutron emission spectroscopy measurements were performed at the Joint European Torus(JET) to study fusion plasmas of deuterium-tritium. The instrument used, the magnetic protonrecoil (MPR) neutron spectrometer, was designed and optimised for plasmas of high fusionpower (PF). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of Neutron Emission Spectroscopy Instrumentation for Deuterium and Deuterium-Tritium Fusion Plasmas at JET

    Författare :Luca Giacomelli; Jan Källne; Thomas Sangster; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Nuclear physics; neutron spectroscopy; MPRu; TOFOR; JET; Radio frequency heating; Count rate; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The study of high power fusion plasmas at the JET tokamak has been further enhanced through the development of instrumentation for neutron emission spectroscopy (NES) measurements. This has involved the upgrade of the magnetic proton recoil (MPR) spectrometer used for deuterium-tritium plasmas earlier so that the MPRu can now be also employed for deuterium (D) plasmas. LÄS MER
