1. Synthesis and development of compounds for nonlinear absorption of light
Sammanfattning : High-intensity light — for instance that from a laser — can be destructive, not only to the human eye, but also to equipment such as imaging sensors and optical communication devices. Therefore, effective protection against such light is desirable. LÄS MER
2. Circumventing Spectrum Mismatch - Studies of Triplet-Triplet Annihilation Upconversion, Singlet Fission and Two-Photon Absorption in Photoactive Materials
Sammanfattning : Solar energy stands out for its potential to supply the global energy demand by itself. Therefore, it is of great value to expand the use of processes that involve light such as conversion to electricity or fuels, or to drive high-energy reactions. LÄS MER
3. Synthesis and Photophysical Characterization of Annihilator-Sensitizer Pairs for Triplet-Triplet Annihilation Based Photon Upconversion
Sammanfattning : Transitioning to a future society, independent of fossil fuels, will denitely require the use of solar radiation for power and fuel production. Due to energy mismatch betweendevice absorption and the broad band irradiation provided by the sun there are severe limitations to how efficient devices for direct conversion of solar radiation can be. 4. Unconventional Modulation of Diarylethene Photoswitches
Sammanfattning : Light can be manipulated and modulated to fit a particular need or application, such as overcoming a spectral mismatch when facilitating a high energy photochemical reaction. This can be of use in various applications, including solar energy conversion and biological contexts. LÄS MER
5. The use of fluorescence techniques for the study of some membrane-bound photosynthetic properties and some effects of copper on the thylakoid membrane
Sammanfattning : Lyophilized pea chloroplasts were extracted in a stepwise manner in an organic solvent (petroleum ether) with increasing polarity which was obtained by addition of small amount of ETOH (0-1 %). Absorption and low temperature fluorescence emission spectra were measured on both the extracted thylakoids and on isolated chlorophylI-protein complexes. LÄS MER
